thats odd.my v6 camaro has a 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.im assuming that would include the engine.i dont add oil between changes every 5k,and its usually not down any oil at 5k.i wonder if a few people are driving enthusiastically, shall we say, having oil consumption issues, and painting GDI engines with a reputation they dont deserve.sure,if you redline shifts all the time, you might have a problem, but old school motors had issues when beaten hard too.

Yeah I don't buy it completely. I find it hard to believe, that of all the OE manufactures, that their engineers didn't know what they are doing. Now I know there is a design issue with the carbon fouling, but as far as washing out rings, I just can't grasp that. Not to say there isn't an issue, but I suspect a majority of that comes from people attempting to mod their cars through tuning, not fully understanding how the system works. Thus making the system do things it wasn't designed to do. Some of it is also, companies trying to sell you something. This is just my opinion though and I'm sure nobody cares lol

Definitely one of the more interesting threads here. I don't put alot of miles on our LFX engine, but I change the oil twice a year with Mobile 1 and that's usually 3k miles or less. My Elite Catch Can gets lot of muck between changes. I record the amount of fluid taken every oil change. Over the past 28k miles the catch can has extracted over a quart of fluid. That's a quart less that passed over the valves and intake. Hopefully this is cheap prevention.

Send the next oil change off to blackstone and see how it's doing.
