Yes, I searched. I have BFG g-force. In March out of stock due 4-12. In April out of stock due 5-16. Considering the Continental. I see 285/30/20 and 295/40/20. No 285/35/20. What size front tire are those of you using the DWS 06+ choosing? Does the difference in number of rotations per mile cause any issues with the traction control modes? Thanks

I'll probably go with the Michelins if the BFG's aren't available on 5-16. I had a bad experience with Michelins 30 years ago, haven't bought them since, probably should let it go.

I couldn't get them either so my choices in 5th ZL1 tires were the Michelins or Generals.

I picked the Generals due to price as I don't try to drive my car 10/10ths and only hit the strip 2 or 3 times a summer.

The 30 series are 6th Gen ZL1 sizes and you will get a bit harsher ride and measure 26.7" for the 285/30 while our size measures 27.9"

The 6th Gen rears 305/30 are 27.2" and our size 305/35 is 28.4

The 315/30 is still only 27.4 and the 295/30 is only 27"

My suggestion would be to use the Michelins or Generals in our stock size.

Maybe ask Tire Rack what they think they are the Tire Forum Sponsor or you could ask them directly

I have run the DWS06's on the front of my Camaro for a long time, and last year when I needed new fronts I was told that Continental doesn't make the DWS06's anymore, so I went with these on my fronts and I like them. They grip well and drive very well and pretty quiet.

DWS06+ (emphasis on plus) does appear to be available. I'm not interested in summer tires.

My concern is 30 or 40 on the front with 35 on the rear messing with the electronics. Secondarily, lower profile increasing the risk of damage to an irreplaceable wheel.

As for General, I've read all the ZL1 tire threads since joining in 2018. Even went back through them recently. No indication of anyone using or recommending them. I'm sure they're fine but.....

On this part here, I have run 275/40 front, 315/35 rear, 275/35 front, 315/35 rear, lastly my current setup 285/35 front, 335/30 rears and to date no issues with the electronics or the ABS. It's all about the tire diameter. I believe you have about half inch or so difference front to back before you have any issues. The biggest difference I had was the 275/35 which the diameter was 27.6 and the 315/35 which the diameter was 28.7. Which is almost an inch, and had no issues at all. I took the 275/35's off and replaced them with the 285/35's because it was just too low in the front from the 275's on a 10.5 wide wheel. The 285/35's are 27.9. The 335/30's I have now on the rear on a 11.5 wide wheel are 28.0 diameter. Hope this helps you.

You need to consider the load rating of the tire, not just the size.

When you knock the sidewall size down and you run a heavy car like a ZL1 you are taking more risk.

Just cause an SS runs it doesn't mean a ZL1 can. They are different cars.

Good thought. One of my friends had a "30" series on the front of his ZL1 which the previous owner had put on there, picked up a nail in one of them, went to a tire shop to have it repaired and they wouldn't fix it stating because the load rating on the tires was not correct for the car and is a safety issue. He had to buy 2 new fronts.

Big Michelin fan. I have run them on a square set up on the Z for the last 9 years on a separate set of rims. OE rims are still mounted to a new set of F1’s in the basement. I put the AS/3 which I believe is discontinued because I wanted a softer ride and less road debris sand blasting the rear quarter panels. I ALSO had envisioned when the car was new that I would sneak out in the winter so I could enjoy those 30 degree pulls but the salt dust always prevented that except for maybe a few times in early November before putting away.

I was able to pull a 11:80 at 124.95 on them at Milan. They never need balancing which is why I buy them. I sold my 10 year old F150 for a new one last sept and the Michelin LTXs had 40k with one balance and still has 8/32 s.

I did try the DWS 06 on my older Genesis and they were a great winter tire and handled rain good but got loud quick, about 7k. My new Genesis I run the recommended Continental which is very soft and quiet. they require a road force balance every 4500 miles as it’s a very heavy car.

Cannot tell you how well the Michelin AS/4 replacement is on winter or wet payment because my Z has never seen a car wash more less rain and snow. But I have had Michelins on 4 suburbans, 2 F 150’, 7 Lexus LS,s so I am a big fan. Worse tire you can own a Pirelli. They go out of round and you end up pro rating them because they won’t take a balance. Second worse Bridgestone.
