LED Spot Lights

Before NightOwl went away, both of us were working on small, LED spot lights. The NightOwl offering was very nice, but I felt that they were a bit pricey ($275 for a set of two, if I recall correctly), so I continued looking at them. The compromise we made was to reduce the power to the point of not needing a metal housing, which was most of the cost: a custom-machined, low-volume, aluminum part. They are still nice and bright, though!

The housings we are using are 3D-printed in black, ABS plastic. They are o-ring sealed, but the LED-driver box is open. A sealed box will be an available option for around $20. There is a short cable to connect to your controller and then 10' of cable to the spot itself.

There are several mounting options: 1/8" clip (shown above) which works well on hood pads and some other cars' vent ducts ; a hood-pad fastener (sized for the 5th gen; different sizes on-request); and a generic through-hole bracket.

These will work with any common-positive LED controller.

We're looking for a few people to help test these out with us. The early-adopter price for one spot is $59. The final price is estimated to be around $85 each, unless something major pops up.

Let us know if you are interested!

What is a "common-positive" LED controller? Would this work with the nightowl system or do we need another system?

Yes, NightOwl modules are common-positive controllers (wiring is R, G, B, and +).

Nightowl controllers are not RGBW however, correct?
