Access battery compartment with side subwoofers?

I made my own corner boxes for each of my 10" subs some two years ago. I've dreaded the day I had to get into the battery and it finally came when I changed my battery the other day. It wasn't AWFUL, but it could have been easier. This is whats going on:

Has anyone with this setup, ******** or custom...figured out some neat way to customize or buy carpeting that would fix this?

I'm scheming something, maybe buy more carpet like I put on the boxes and replace the existing stuff with it. Cut along the edges of just in front of the boxes and put velcro on the underside? Someone else has to have dealt with this.

I've had this issue with my trunk subwoofer box, I cut the tire mount in half and put hinges on it.... I asked the dealer how much a piece of carpet is for the entire trunk, she told me it was 60 bucks to get a new piece of trunk carpet. So personally i'd chop that baby up. But do it so the cuts are about an inch under the side boxes.

I only have to move the passenger side box thru the pass-thru into the back seat, then I can pull up the carpet and cover.

We call it, "The Trap Door" it would work well with your install as well...just need carpet to cover instead of the leather...factory carpet will have to go.

Naw...It is my daily driver (27k miles in 1.5 years) and I have to carry stuff back there quite often...made a brace under the panels to support weight and the material holds up well. Being a convertible, there is not much space anyway...so for shopping, we take the wife's Impala...but I'm not scared to put stuff back there! Haha
