The gears on the Mustang changed it so much, the rear end kicks out when it shifts to 3rd gear. We are still running 235/50-R18 pirelli all-seasons, thinking of going to 19 inch wheels (to clear brembo's) and 285 rear tires. Are the Mickey Thompson Street Comp tires any good for racing? |

We finally raced each other for the first time since August, 2013. We upgraded the Mustang from 2.73's to 3.73's, Driveshaft Shop 1-piece shaft and a MPT tune. She gained almost 5 mph trap but her times are off because as soon as she floors it she spins the tires and the car goes everywhere. She managed to cut a 2.2 second 60' time and was on track to getting a good 13 second run till around the 330' mark. That same run I spun my tires after the 60' mark.

I'm about to buy some 555r's for you if you don't get drag radials soon. Like $300 from wal mart. Your wifes v6 on tire would run 12.90-13.40's with that trap speed. I went 13.2 @ 105 mph with a 2.1 60 foot on street tire with 3.73s.... if i had drag radials that would have been a 12.8-12.9. This was last year in my camaro.

If you had a stall and gears and tire that 108 trap is also good for 12.2-12.6. Just put tire on it and run high 12's.

Tires will be coming soon to the Mustang, but I'm hoping she can get into the 13's with her current ones. Going to tell her to try to do a small burnout, see if that will help. I still can't believe how much of a difference 3.73's made in her car.
The Camaro is getting detonation at peak torque, that may be why my ET is low compared to my trap. Installing a Meth kit Thursday, see if I can get it dialed in Friday morning then go the track Friday night. I know with 10% ethanol my knock is lower, see if the methanol will keep it completely under control. |

We went last night to the track and ran 6 times. I had just installed a Methanol injection kit that morning, so I was trying to tune it at the track as best I could. First run I actually had too much and caused a CEL from misfires and IAT voltage low, car went into limp mode. Took a while to clear those codes but still had problems with IAT voltage low. The Meth would get on the sensor and run down to the wires connecting to the plug.
My wife was car #837 and check out her R/T on the 2nd and 3rd timeslips. She also set a new personal best with 14.1 @ 101. Her trap speeds were lower than last time, I had filled her car up at the same station I get gas from last time we went to the track. This time she filled it up at a Conoco station and it seems like they either water down their gas or claim 91 octane when it might be 87. My parents came out from North Carolina to watch us and recorded our 2nd and 3rd runs. 2nd Run: 3rd Run (no clue what song was playing over the PA system): |

That seems like pure joy. I wish I could afford and have my wife to enjoy racing.
launch is hard. I do recomend getting the suspension completely done on both cars. It's a bit different situation but similar enough. I just put can and heads with tube in mine v8. Before I was able to get 12.7 on the quarter, now the best I got was 13.02, traction on launch is a lot harder with more power. And tires won't do it all. I'm looking at coil overs. Let the car squat a bit more. and that change of gears is a huge feeling of power. It will take done good practice to get it down. Good luck. I'm really jealous and happy for you two!

Get ET street radials. I would let you use mine, but they're 275/50r15. Too small.
Since you got the brembos that dramatically limits your wheel choice options too. You can't fit 17 inch wheels anymore, the GTO skinnies or G8 rear wheels. The skinnies would give you a solid 2 mph extra trap. |

lower the tire pressure to ~25.
On all season street tires it made a difference on my camaro, even though the internet said it would not. ~40 psi cut 2.3-2.4. ~35 psi cut 2.1-2.2, ~25-27 psi cut 1.9-2.0's. |

Will try that next time, I run 35 psi on the Camaro and 32 psi on the Mustang. I want to get my wife's Mustang in the 13's badly, she is right at the edge.

Drop the tire pressure on the Mustang to 20psi and launch at 1800rpm
