A lot of cars in this thread with the problem. We should push for buy-backs.

A similar problem exists in the front. The more times you take the bumper on and off for various work, the more of a gap you will notice that will be hard to go away. Seems like the actual piece gets stretched a bit with retightening! It's just a byproduct of plastic this and plastic that. unfortunate that this was not thought through a little better.

Maybe they were talking about "Duck" brand duct tape. And thanks guys. I didn't realize it was such a common issue. I will have to check it out later.

PlastiDip, never notice it again. Or adjust it as stated previously.

Bondo gets a bad rap because of people doing bad work. It's like the old "Quadrajets and Thermoquads suck" wisdom. They are actually good carbs that people re-built wrong. When I was trained to do bodywork in my godfather's shop, they used vinyl body filler. The difference is that they prepped properly and they understood that body fillers and primers aren't sealers so they used the right products and techniques before and after the filler was applied. That vinyl filler was extremely similar to bondo but it comes in a package that goes into a wall dispenser and it meters the filler and hardener pretty accurately and very uniformly. However on my own cars that I have done body work on, I have gotten better results with two-part epoxy. But epoxy is a really difficult thing to work with that way, it's hard to sand. Body filler is easy to sand. But I can use (and have used) bondo and you'd never know it, and the panels don't rust. I've had to use bondo on brand-new replacement panels. But bodywork is such a PITA.

Well after I get the lawn done. I plan on fixing the 3 spots that are doing it on my car.
