“Boosted” vs standard throttle bodies

Can someone explain the significance of a “boosted” throttle body (Nick Williams, etc) vs a standard version? I remember reading about this in the past. If memory serves us right…this was all related to turbo push boost over the throttle blade leading to fluttering? Trying to confirm if the standard version works fine for a supercharger.

Correct

Some have seen issues with the either the blade closing against boost or, as you said, fluttering, when there is no pedal demand

I haven't heard of anybody with a S/C having this problem.

Just to clarify. The new NW 103mm (not 102) work with either application.

So with the stock TB and a turbo kit would it be better with a NW boosted 103 TB?

Better than what? If u have stock intake, stay with the stock TB.

I guess I didnt clarify very well. Nick Williams sold a 102mm standard and 102mm boosted TB. In the 103 version (which fits all 102 openings) they only have one version. It works with either NA or Boosted applications. Any type of boost.

Have I lost everyone?

Do you really think you need more than the stock TB on a turbo install ? Guys have made over 2000hp with it.

Ya. The stock TB will suffice, even blowing 27psi through it with turbos (not 2000hp in my case).

Even though the stock intake/tb will “support” 1700whp, that doesnt mean you cant gain hp/tq by opening up the intake track. Maybe someone doesnt have unlimited boost pressure on tap, to just turn the dial.

I just bought a Pro Flo and nw103 tb. Im gonna retune and hit the dyno at the same boost level. See what happens…

My intake is a rod mod ported unit and I was curious if I needed a NW unit but it sounds like a stock TB will support more power then I'm putting out and handle the boost.

I had a brand new NW 103 TB and sold it to a fellow member on here for his 2.9 Whipple setup. He was running a ported stock TB and after the NW install he picked up 40rwhp more than he had. He's happy..

That’s what I’m hoping for given my similar set up with a Kenne Bell 2.8. I know twin screw superchargers like as wide open of an intake as possible. Very different air dynamics from turbos when they are pulling air instead of pushing it though the throttle body.
