HELP! Just threw a P2135 and car is in limp mode (NOW P2101)

Hi all,

Hope you can help me out. I was driving down the neighborhood street, going maybe 20 mph and at a pretty low RPM (likely 1200rpm or so - trying to keep the exhaust quiet), and suddenly the car started making a noise, entered reduced power mode, check engine light on, also said stabilitrak disabled. Limped my way back to the house and ran the code through maestro. The one code is P2135.

To note, I have a Bo White stage 2 throttle body with a DynoSteve tuned for it. Been running fine for a couple months and this suddenly happened. Throttle body was clean when installed. Think its the throttle body or maybe the pedal sensor? How to test for it?

Does anyone know what the issue is and what I need to do to fix it?

I really appreciate the help!!!

***UPDATE***
I went ahead and cleaned the throttle body and cleared the code. Went for a drive and immediately got a P2101 code. Car went back into limp mode and sounded really bad with a terrible idle. I have a video of it at idle if necessary.

***UPDATE #2****
See post #7. Seems to be ok for the time being.....

****UPDATE #3****
No such luck. It’s back. P2135 and car runs like crap and reduced power. Additional help requested.

Clear the code, clean the throttle body with TB cleaner verify the connection to your TPS is on solidly.

OK I will start with that. Any specific brand recommended? CRC fine? Thanks!

Hi Bildo,

I went ahead and cleaned the throttle body and cleared the code. Went for a drive and immediately got a P2101 code. Car went into limp mode and still has the really bad, rough idle. What are your thoughts? Thanks for all your help.

2nd update - I went ahead and cleared the code, then disconnected my battery for 10 minutes. Plugged it back in, and now everything seems fine. Throttle is pretty sensitive but I think that's part of it now recalibrating?

So I guess now I should just monitor and report back if it comes back?

Yeah I went through some similar stuff, clean it good and make sure it's clear is usually a fix. In HP Tuners I used to have to occasionally go through the clean intake process where I would have to relearn idle, but that's tons of mods. I wouldn't hesitate to talk with DynoSteve, I have spent literally thousands with him on parts and he has always been a super stand up dude, he could ask you to data-log if it becomes an issue.

i had this happen on two of my chevrolet vehicles. Both times I did a good throttle body cleaning but also included a MAF sensor cleaning and the proble was gone.

Maf sensor is a simple 5 minute item to try.

Ok I’ll try cleaning the Maf sensor too. Can I use the throttle body and air intake cleaner or do I need actual maf cleaner?

Most likely Throttle body. Cleaning it won't do anything. ECM is seeing an issue between tps1 and tps2 sensors in the throttle body.
