Hi guys and gals. My name is PJ from SoCal.

I finished a similar thread a few minutes ago but it didn't show up and said I wasn't logged on when I clicked submit...so in case that one made it after all, then I apologize for the repeat.

I have owned 5 Camaros in the past and have always loved them. So, I have been excited about the 2010 Camaro. I spent most of last week calling many dealers in SoCal, most already had their allocations ordered, some refused to take pre-orders or sold-orders and they used all their allocations in ordering Camaros in various trims, put the cars on the floor, mark them up, and have a more or less "highest bidder wins" scenerio. Several dealers continue to take deposits and pre-orders despite the fact they are 20+ over their allocations!

I thought I got lucky and found a dealer with 2 allocations. 1 was already taken for a $5k non-refundable deposit. The 2nd one was slotted for the General Manager. I offered $2.5k non-refundable "Allocation Elimation Fee" and the GM gladly gave up the slot for me. So, on Saturday, I sat down with the salesperson and selected my options:

2SS/RS package
6 speed
Inferno Orange exterior
Inferno Orange interior trim
20" polished wheels
Inferno Orange Engine Cover
Ground Effects Kit (dealer will paint and install free of charge)
I also wanted the short throw Hurst shifter but it didn't come up on the options list on the salesperson's computer. So I skipped it.

I was told the order will be put in Tuesday or Thursday...I didn't bother to ask why.

However, Saturday evening. salesperson called and said she has put in the order in the system. One problem, she said if she put in the Engine Cover option with my order, it would add about 4 weeks delay due to some issues at the factory, yada yada yada....she said she went ahead and submitted the order without it but the dealership will have the engine cover and will be happy to install them when the car is delivered. I said, Cool!

What questions should I ask my salesperson to make sure mine was actually put in the system. I don't trust dealers. For all I know, they could have sold their allocations, took my deposit anyway and they are calling and making offers to other dealerships for a Camaro with my "almost exact" options to get to their dealership and sell to me.

I can't wait!! I can honestly say that I am more excited about this than when my 1965 Shelby Cobra replica was being built for me.

Welcome, and engine cover painted is something simple and you could probably do on your own later down the road.

Welcome!!! Yea, you can do it yourself. I painted mined and it looks great. I will posted a picture when I get home.

I ordered from Graham Chevrolet in SB. Nice folks and the owner was awesome. He said not to sweat the painting and installation of the ground effects kit, he'll take care of it.

Called them today and my salesperson gave me the alpha numeric order #. She said it just a matter of waiting now when the factory pulls my order to start building my car.

How about you bowtie girl..where did you order and how was it?
