X-Pipe Installed (YouTube Videos/Sound)
My birthday gift came in a few days early and I had it installed this morning. The sound is a little louder and, IMO, much better. Made a before and after sound videos and you can hear the difference; it is even more pronounced 'live' and when I'm driving. Overall, I am very happy with the results … here are the links to the videos:

Sounds nice! What type is it? Is it resonated?

It's the aluminumized steel one from JEGS; didn't go with the stainless because I live in a very dry climate and really don't have to worry about rust. It is non-resonated and is sized to basically the same length as the OEM resonator it replaces. Took the shop a little over 30 minutes to install (from pulling it up on the rack to pulling it off).

Thanks all, appreciate the comments. Forgot to mention one of the best comments I got all day. After putting the X-pipe on, the mechanic came in and said, "man that is one awesome car, you've done a great job with it"

That sounds really nice and not too overpowering with the noise.

Had a chance to take it up on the interstate this morning and really open it up. Going from around 10mph to 80mph up the on ramp it sounded awesome; a nice, loud, but not unbearable roar. Once on the interstate and cruising for a minute or so at various speeds between 55mph-90mph there was no noticeable drone, just a nice low 'rumble' that was music to my ears. Very happy with going with the X-pipe and thankful for a wife who tells me to get what I want for my cars as my birthday gift.

Just like to add to this old thread, I bought the same pipe [only stainless] from Summit for my 2010.
However I sold my 2010 and bought the 2015 but was very lucky in the fact its the same part so finally got round to fitting it this morning. Its not the easiest thing in the world to do on your back, however the x-pipe is only just long enough despite cutting it exactly the same as the OP, it takes quite a bit of juggling to make sure there is enough pipe inside the x-pipe before clamping it up. Also the little brace under the old resonator can't go back, despite lots of fiddling around, no big deal though. It certainly sounds a little better for the money when compared to the cost of a cat-back, but bear in mind its not a two second job to fit unless you're really good with exhausts. |
