I was recently looking at some f14's for my car and talked to a guy who runs track days at our local road course Mosport. He said that lots of the porsche guys have bought them and after a couple of track days that alot of the drivers had bent them and he knows how hard I drive my car, and he suggested that I look at something else if I were to road course them.
I was hoping on using them for drag racing though.

I have a set of 22" F14s that have been sitting in my garage for 2 years now because of a cracked wheel. I had a brand new tire mounted and about 2 weeks later the lip cracked and instantly lost all air from the tire. Ill have to look but it seems like it even cracked in 2 different places. The other 3 are in great shape but I have not been able to find anyone interested in buying them with the broken wheel and cannot find anyone that would attempt to repair the wheel. Forgestar wants 400 for a replacement wheel so I guess they will sit until I want them out of the way bad enough to spend 400 plus labor to get it fixed.

Finally decided to put these back on the car. Ordered a new wheel to replace the cracked rear wheel for $520+$40 shipping. Had a hassle with offset and ordering but finally got it situated and got the correct wheel in and installed in June of this year. Had a different wheel start leaking today soI pulled it to inspect and noticed 3 cracks around a foot apart in the inner lip. I hate that I dumped another $600 into these wheels thinking that they would be ok but I had to give it a shot on a set of wheels that I already had $2400 in. These were older (1st set made for the Camaros apparently) so maybe their quality is better now. I guess Im finally going to give up on Forgestar and count my losses.

seen too many failures myself throughout the years to waste my money.
Cheap price, light weight. Too bad they crack super easy. You did the research on 6 different forums from 6 different brands of cars and still cant make up your mind? LOL, yea go ahead and buy them. |

They're not up for the task, and they do eventually bend or crack. Just stay away and cut your loses.

I pulled the tires from my wheels last week to sell them and noticed BOTH front wheels were cracked in several places along the inner lip. That makes 1 rear and 2 fronts that cracked on me. It could have just been the low pro tires but seems strange. I did notice that the barrels were bare and not powdercoated under the tire on the 3 that cracked but the new wheel and the old rear that didnt crack were completely powdercoated. Not sure if this is an "old vs new" thing but it is interesting. It seems like the original owner mentioned replacing one before he sold them to me. These two good wheels will probably sit around until I can find someone interested. The other 3 make good decorations.

I owned a set of 20x10.5 F14s, and didn't have any issues. However, someone brought a set of new f14s to a local autox and bent all four, and a friend of mine has video of an F14 catastophically failing on a 911 at NCM. The price point and customizability are certainly attractive, but I don't think I'll be getting another set.

I guess it isn't just a Forgestar issue. A buddy posted this pic yesterday of a TSW Bathurst from his Mustang.

Any wheel can crack, its all based on speed angle of contact and what you contact.
Yes some wheels are better at holding up compared to others this is true. |

Forgestars are underbuilt compared to most other spin forged wheels. If you're very kind to your car, you might not have an issue. I wouldn't bother.
