Cool L99 Camaro SS/RS Automatic

Need to talk to someone who has a L99 with Automatic transmission that has had the Exhaust revised for more of a muscle car sound without the Drone inside or outside when the engine goes from 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders.

Who has done this with out the drone issue and what specifically Have you changed and does it void the Warranty ?

I do not plan to change the Cats, wonder if I can keep the stock resonator...would like to delete stock mufflers only and straight pipe out and end up with stock tips ....but have been told it will not pass inspection without mufflers ?

Who has success with muscle car sound with a L99 Automatic Transmission ?

Much different than LS3 engine per drone issues going from 8 to 4 cylinders.

Need help please...

THANKS,

LATER

What do you mean the ls3 engine going from 8 cylinder to 4????
Only the automatics do that!

If you are really want a muscle car sound that doesn't have to much drone you I would say go with the s type borla muffler I love mine so much! It's quiet when I want it to be but when I WOT it's a muscle car sound for sure!

However no matter what you do if you change out your muffler for any other kind of brand you want to ether get a "range" because it disables the AFM. Or you can tune the car to get ride of it but you will lose your powertrain warranty.

If you don't know what the AFM is....
It's the thingy that makes the 8 cylinders go down to 4 to save fuel.

This ^^^^^^ Simple, inexpensive, and the best deep sound with no drone at any RPM.
I've had mine for over 2 years now and wouldn't change a thing.

So if I understand, you left the stock cats and went 2.5 inch pipe, X pipe replaced the stock resonator, then to magna flow mufflers and magna flow resonator tips.

Understand all except the magna flow tips ? How are they different from stock tips ?

Is this correct ? No drone issues...

Is the magna flow muffler have a number ?

Would you happen to haves audio clip ?

Thanks for the information....

Who has done this with out the drone issue and what specifically Have you changed and does it void the Warranty ? Added the Solo high flow cats. 15rwhp and a nice sound. No tune, no drone, no CEL's. Any catback, cats, mufflers, headers (sans the GMPP axleback) will void your exhaust warranty. The cats are the easiest to r&r if needed

I do not plan to change the Cats, wonder if I can keep the stock resonator...would like to delete stock mufflers only and straight pipe out and end up with stock tips ....but have been told it will not pass inspection without mufflers ? With the high flow cats you keep the stock resonators. Why don't you want to change the cats? Fairly simple bolt on and the most horsepower your going to get out of your stock exhaust system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=qI1jOW2NvwU

Much different than LS3 engine per drone issues going from 8 to 4 cylinders.

If you are planning bigger mods like headers, cam, FI, etc. just get it tuned.

Need help please...

THANKS,

I went with a "custom" x-pipe and Lingenfelter(made by Corsa) axle back. Total cost around $650. And get a tune.
