Reviving a year old thread, but, how fast are you spinning that V3 Si, and for how long has it lived?

I’m an L99, still stock cam but with fuel system and all other supporting mods for the blower. Pretty big shot of 70/30 meth water. Spinning the blower to 58,000 at my 6400 rpm shift point (8” lower, 3.15 high traction upper). Seeing 15psi in nice weather, 13.5 in summer heat. Wondering if my next mod should be an LS3 swap with small blower cam or a bigger head unit. Or a better converter, I have the pro torque 2800 stall but am thinking about a Circle D 3600 stall.

I actually never turned up the V3. Shortly after this post I upgraded to ESS’ billet G3X blower. Sold my vortech in very good shape to a board member.

The G3X is pretty badass. Best parts money can buy inside. On the 100mm pulley its making 837/739, and I plan to install a 90mm pulley once I get my fuel system up to par... but who knows how long that will take. My fuel system was supposed to support 1000whp on E, and its dropping pressure at 800.

Its starting to piss me off.

Well my V3si is running very good. Max is 52,000 rpm on the V3si. With my 7.8” lower and 3.33 upper I shift at 6000rpm. That puts the blower at 50,5xx.
At Camaro Fest this year it was Hot and this is what the little Vortech did. Only Nick in his 416 TT Zl1 beat me lol.

Sweeeet! 7.8” lower, is that the pulley that comes with the ECS L99 kit? I was told mine is 8”, not sure if it is 7.8” or 8”. I shift at 6400 with a 3.33 pulley, overspinning it a bit but it seems fine. I went to a 3.15 pulley and gained maybe 0.5 psi. IATs got hot enough that I lost 2 degrees of timing even with water meth, so I went back to the 3.33 pulley and went to a ProMeth 20 water meth jet spraying 70/30 meth water and all is good now. Amazing how good these blowers do but how fast they run out of efficiency and defeat the purpose when overspun more than just a couple thousand.

Time for a ysi. When i went from the novi 1500 to the ysi it went faster at the track with the same pulley same tune even though it made a little less boost. More efficient

If I do anything it will likely be a good used 1500SL, I don’t think I need a YSI on a stock cammed L99. Totally agree with your rationality in the more efficient tho, that’s why I’m considering stepping up to the 1500 and just pulleying it so I still see 13 to 14 psi. I think im at about all the power and boost I want in a stock cam, bottom end, trans and rear.

Never enough power and boost haha. Just did a larger crank pulley, 2nd meth nozzle, head studs/ls9 gaskets. See what happens, havent ran it yet.
