Broke Rocker arm - 4000$? Input needed please

So over the weekend my car started making a very loud ticking noise - I got it into my shop (not the dealership) that does all my work as soon as I could. I thought it was somehting a little less than it was so i drove it there. Now I realized that it was probably a rocker issue, and my shop felt the same thing.

Anyway, I asked for a ball park figure and my guy said about 4 grand? He explained that if the rocker broke than the cam could be messed up, as well as metal being in the oil. All of that makes sense to me - but does 4k seem high to anyone. I really trust my shop - they have done all my mods which are

Cam, CAI, Long tube hearders, Tune, and engine Internals such lifters, springs, retainers.

What do you guys think? Should I be asking something that I am not?

Thanks as always,

CentexSS

Could be a complete engine rebuild. What are your mods?

I see you got a 17 , shouldn’t that be covered under your 3 year bumper to bumper warranty still.

Unfortunately, your mods have probably voided your drivetrain warranty. Best to find a reputable shop and bite the bullet.

you will be down longer if it is a rebuild and if you have metal shavings in that engine... good luck cause youll be rebuilding it again unless they do a full tear down. with the spare engine youll have it out, it wont have to be a full tear down as youre just working on the head area.. you don't have to worry about shavings and your bottom half is brand new. peace of mind brother.. I bet youll save time and money doing it this way... you think youll be saving money the other way until it starts going further and further into the engine.

Sounds about right if they are going to do a rebuild especially with having to pull the engine to examine it. Expect it to be considerably more if you use a premiere engine builder like LME.

When did they last work on your motor's internals?
Could it be something they did?

A broken rocker arm doesn't mean a engine failure most of the time. The shop should have done a trunnion upgrade on the rocker arms before installing the cam package. I would find a different shop if they are already quoting you that much money. A OE rocker arm costs less then 100.00 and can be changed in less then a hour.
