Exhaust Upgrades w/ NPP?

Looking to start the mod journey on my DD 1LE. Have a CAI, and looking for a bit more HP on a budget, and thought exhaust mods might be next. Not looking for obnoxious levels of noise, need to pass emissions, and I do like the NPP on my car.

Any recommendations? LT Headers, Hi-Flow Cats, X-Pipe? Thanks!

I would leave the NPP. Do the LT's and X-pipe.

Go Long tube headers w/ cat deletes and a remote tune would work great for you. I had my 1LE with this exhaust setup w/ NPP for 3 years. Excellent set up.

I put on LT’s and 3”, no cats, X pipe, all from LG motorsports, I connected to my factory NPP mufflers. I still have the fuse in, so the NPP is still active and functional. The sound is exactly what I was looking for, slightly deeper under normal driving, then when I go WOT it gets aggressive and considerably louder.

He has to pass emissions so cats are a requirement.
I have long tubes with a 2 3/4 Z28 system they don't have resonators in them with a X Pipe from a C7 corvette (corvette forum about 50 bucks and it looks factory).
High flow cats and the NPP on my 2010 SS sounds amazing.
Also have the Z28 CAI. PM me your number an Ill send you a sound clip from NCM.

With a tune after doing cat deletes you can pass emissions no problem.

Another vote for LT's and a tune. RDP has a great deal on both as a package with lifetime tunes. You can expect at least a 50+ rwhp gain from those mods (including your CAI).

Keep the NPP and get some long tube headers with high flow cats and a quality tune. You should pass inspections no problems and you'll love your new found sound and power.

Whatever you decide to do. I'd get a tune to optimize the combination. Even if it means buying cheaper headers. I have Speed Engineering on mine and had them on the car for about 85k miles. They owe me nothing at this point. No leaks, no retighting, no gasket blowouts. I'm at 3 cams and 2 set of heads at 119k and the headers were the most cost effective mod I made.

Headers with NPP is perfect sound level. Comfortable when cruising and loud when you punch it.

I have the same question as OP, and I also have NPP.

Your response above is kind of what I was thinking for my eventual exhaust mods: LTs, high flow cats, NPP, and a tune with a DIY 3 way switch for ultimate control.

(No emissions testing in FL but don’t want the strange smell from cat delete.)
