Somewhere on this forum, in the archives, is a detailed thread about why our cars do this already and the possible damage you ‘could’ cause by exaggerating it. Stuff about firing order, valve timing, raw fuel, etc. But that’s about all I remember.

They do it from the factory due to the fuel being shut off completely on deceleration after a couple seconds with no throttle input. The pops are remaining bits of unburnt fuel that make it into the exhaust and hit the hot pipe and bang. Not sure how to find it in the tune.

If you want a couple of pops when you first let off, decrease the DFCO entry spark.

If you want a lot of annoying pops, disable DFCO and decrease spark in your coastdown advance table in the low g/cyl rows.

PSA: cats won't like it if you still have them.

Just out of curiosity, I asked my tuner about doing this. He said he gets so many requests for the "gurgle tune", but doesn't do them because how much damage they do to the engine, valves and exhaust.

He says its great for YouTube videos to get advertising, but horrible for the car so he doesn't do them.

We need more tuners like them.
