I would have reminded you of the soreness you would experience in your back side, back and shoulders and wrists. But that is just my experience from a few hundred mile day. But now you know. Did you have fun though?

I've done several 600 milers and had no problems. got a throttle lock. the wrist doesn't hurt, and the thumb isn't numb. heck even after the 1500 miles I was fine. I left friday last week on this trip. got off the bike 23hrs later. road around san antonio sunday, monday, tuesday, and now headed to east tn, 1200 miles from san antonio. then sat headed back to eastern nc. ugh I'm a bright one. |

Pulse and surge are terms the Navy was/is using to describe the kind of deployment you might be on... they went to it a few years ago so I'm not completely sure if it is still accurate. But a pulse is a shorter cruise with less ramp up time... usually 3-4 months. A surge is typically a 6 month deployment with a more "training and qualification" required prior to deployment... What can happen is either while you are training for a surge or after you return from a surge you can be tapped for a pulse... The old way was 9 months of work ups, which always led to 6 moths of deployment. then 6 months or so of stand down, then do it all over again... The new pulse/surge plan lets you keep the turnaround cycle for carriers a little quicker.... If I understand it right it was a necessity of being in two places at once and the need for efficient turn over when ships come home. ...................... Back to your regularly scheduled program.

There's just something cool about the name "Dextron".
topped off the '79s tranny fluid, and had to comment. |
