Someday when you come visit Michigan and I can buy you a beer.............I'll tell you all about the sign on the dash. It's a reaaaaaaly good story.

The sign that said shunt or the sign about the engine specs????

As for your question about notice..... Your guess is as good as mine! Part of the gig I guess, Im just happy to be home for a while!

Thanks for the welcome home!

If you had only mentioned it before hand. I know a guy that does the Iron Butt Rallies........but he's nuts.

I would have reminded you of the soreness you would experience in your back side, back and shoulders and wrists. But that is just my experience from a few hundred mile day.

But now you know.

Did you have fun though?

fun yea. but I mist one gas receipt. so I'm not getting my iron butt certificate. but oh well. I know i did it that's all that matters.

I've done several 600 milers and had no problems. got a throttle lock. the wrist doesn't hurt, and the thumb isn't numb. heck even after the 1500 miles I was fine. I left friday last week on this trip. got off the bike 23hrs later. road around san antonio sunday, monday, tuesday, and now headed to east tn, 1200 miles from san antonio. then sat headed back to eastern nc. ugh I'm a bright one.

OK... temp Hijack...

Pulse and surge are terms the Navy was/is using to describe the kind of deployment you might be on...

they went to it a few years ago so I'm not completely sure if it is still accurate.

But a pulse is a shorter cruise with less ramp up time... usually 3-4 months.

A surge is typically a 6 month deployment with a more "training and qualification" required prior to deployment... What can happen is either while you are training for a surge or after you return from a surge you can be tapped for a pulse...

The old way was 9 months of work ups, which always led to 6 moths of deployment. then 6 months or so of stand down, then do it all over again...

The new pulse/surge plan lets you keep the turnaround cycle for carriers a little quicker.... If I understand it right it was a necessity of being in two places at once and the need for efficient turn over when ships come home.

So you're saying the Navy has the technology where sMack can be at home AND deployed at the same time?

I wonder if they make those for trucks?

Ouch. My dad rode his bike 13K miles around the country - but that was over a summer, lol. You're ruthless

Would you believe it if I told you I guessed close to that? One wonders sometimes where I ought to have pointed my future...

There's just something cool about the name "Dextron".

topped off the '79s tranny fluid, and had to comment.
