Xzilon?
So when I purchased my Camaro, they offered me this product call xzilon and told me it's a protecting coat on the car with a 5 year warranty. It was around $800 added to my loan. At first I didn't want it but the guy said it also protects the underneath from rusting, so I got it done and Had it droped off yesterday to have It reapplied for the 2nd time (after 6 months).I'm just wondering did anyone else get it, if their dealer offered it to them? And how's it working for you?

I was told that if you are the type of person that constantly washes/waxes your car, then something like this paint protection is not needed.
On the other hand, if you are a busy type of person that only washes/waxes their car a few times a year, then it may be worth it. It will protect againt bug guts and bird crap and it will guaranty the gloss on the paint for 5 years or whatever it's warranty period is. your choice. |

The "product" is a waste of money, time, and effort. You bought a paint warranty. I know, I used to work at the dealership.

your 800 is more than that, since you are paying intrest on that loan. If it works, thats great.

Hi guys,
I work at a dealership in the parts department here in AZ. Our salespeople upsell a product called IBEX and one treatment is for the paint and the other for the vehicles with leather interiors. The cost to the consumer is usually 750-850 per application and I'm telling you its a waste of your hard earned money as I know how much this stuff costs INCLUDING paying the detailing department to "apply" it. You would be shocked to know how much profit the dealerships are getting for it. Stay away from this it is just pure profit for your dealership. Just take care of your car and wash/wax normally like we all should. |

If you took that $800 and tossed it out the window on the highway it would be better served, at least then someone who may need it would find it. Save your money, it's a waste.

I'm an aircraft technician and we use this stuff on the airplane to prevent bare metal from pitting and becoming corroded. I know it works well on bare metal not to sure about paint.

I work for a dealership as well and I offer something of more value for the same (or less) price. We offer our customers a "punch card" good for 4 complete paint protection packages. Each time they come in for the service they receive a clay bar treatment, buff, hand wax, polish and a complete interior detail. We do this every 6 months for the first 2 years or whenever the customer wants to use the card. To us that's a better value for the customer and we their car is taken care of at least 4 times, rather then one time only. We do offer Xzylon, but I try to stay away from it for the reasons stated in this thread.

Well Xzilon has the 5 year warranty, which if you read means you could get it reapplied as many times within 5 years. So far I've gotten it 2 with in 5 months of owning mine. Now its pretty expensive, but I do plan on getting applied 5-6 times a year, which will keep my Camaro looking like the day I bought it 5 years ago. And I regularly wash my car and its clean 99% of the time, I mainly got it to save time on waxing, and for the underneath of the car to stay rust free down the line. I've checked online and you could buy stuff online for around $100 which is way cheaper and just apply it your self.
It is good stuff, but is it worth $600-$800? Probably not but if you dont want to spend that kind money then do it your self, I was just uneducated on it and was just plain excited about my car that I didn't think it through. |
