This topic has been beat to death in the past. If you do a search, you should find several threads on catch cans. It's one of those topics that has no clear cut answer.
Some will say yes definitely, some take the side that if it was needed, then GM would have provided one from the factory. It'll also depend on how you drive the car, and what mods are done. My opinion for a basically stock car is, no a catch can is not necessary. |

A cc on a fully stock LSA is not "really needed".

All it currently has is a CIA. I plan to do the Stainlessworks catback and maybe a pulley upgrade next spring

All the gook that comes from a good catch can looks scary. Realize much of it is water, but without a catchcan the water vapor is simply passed through your engine. No harm. Oil passes through with no harm also as long as you aren't passing so much it causes knock or heavy deposits. In a direct injected engine no matter what there gets buildup on the back of the intake valves. Reducing that can only help. The LSA is port injected which helps wash that without intervention.
My view mirrors what is already said in this thread. I would get a metco valved breather for overpressure safety. Keep the old parts for smog inspection or if you sell it someday to someone wanting original or lives in smog inspection area. |

I installed one on my stock 1le and it's doing what it's designed for.

It don’t come easy.

I got my SS with 32k on it when I put a CC on it. I was amazed on how much oil it collected in a relatively short amount of mileage. It ended up that I had a valley cover issue (do a search) and corrected it by closing that port off and connecting to the right side valve cover instead. Now I’m not burning all that oil in the cylinders or throwing it away from the catch can. A win/win situation, imho. As most have stated, it all depends on your circumstance, whether or not you “need” a catch can.

I too pulled my lid off when I bought my 2013 to check the IC brick, and with 22k on it and looked like the picture above if not a little worse.
I would personally get one, they are fairly cheap and easy to install. There is no downside to running one on a stock LSA.
