Leather Steering Wheel / Shift Knob

Hey guys. Just ordered a matching leather steering wheel and shift knob from trunkmonkeyparts.com.

Black with stone stitching which will match my interior perfectly.

I think I got a really good deal at $264 shipped for both.

Was wondering how hard it will be to swap these in place of the urethane stock ones that come on the LS's

I think this will be a very tasteful upgrade. Assuming the knob will be easy but the wheel will be more complicated. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I used this for a guide when I upgraded mine

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317592

Remember you HAVE to disco the battery and let it sit so you don't ger a face full of airbag.
Also, the spring clips you have to release go towards the outside of the wheel.
I used a thick wire clothes hanger instead of an Allen wrench.

It's easy once you've done it once..
Hahaha

I always turn the key when disconnecting my battery to make sure all the juice is out of the system then let it sit for 10 mins, but you can't take the key out until you plug the battery back up so keep that in mind

Rotate the collar and pull down (think of like taking off a medicine safety cap, but pull up instead of push down)

Then there's a screw that you unscrew and pull the knob up.

... On second thought, this is assuming you are a manual, are you?

Here's some photos of my swap, I went and did suede, even the boot.

Remember, when you disconnect the battery....
DO NOT CLOSE THE TRUNK!!!!!!!!
If you do, there will be Hell to pay trying to crawl through the back seat to reconnect the battery!!!!!
It only opens electrically

Good point...

Still hoping someone can give me direction on swapping out the auto shift knob.

By the way... the suede swap looks MINT. Wish I had gotten manual (for 2k less)... but at the time I didn't have a company car and thought I was going to be DD'ing the shit out of this Camaro. Now I only drive on weekends. Oh well.

Do a Google search on the shift knob swap.
You'll find what you need there
