Dealer ECM,BCM updates?

After checking, I have many updates available on my trouble free 3yr. old Camaro. I thought would go get the updates while my car is still under warranty. The dealership said they can't update under warranty unless I am having issues. Anyone get updates without problems and under warranty? I thought updates also existed to prevent as well as fix issues.

Wierd, my car is at the dealer as we speak and is getting the updates as well as a few other things done. There doing it all as good will since my bumper to bumper ended a couple of months ago. They told me about the updates, I didn't ask. IIRC, the tech working on the car said he was required to do the updates since the car was in the shop.

I guess it just depends on your dealer. some dealers are great at customer service while others just want your money. my dealer was great about replacing and updating my PDIM software. I just lied and said i was having some issues describled in the Chevy bulletin and he just took my word for it and had my car taken care of no problem. Try going in there with some literature to back up what youre saying. its hard for them to fight whats on paper.

They usually do this when you are in for other services.

What a bunch of crock. If the car is still under warranty, they should do it no problem.

Agree, I looked at this too, since im hoping for a ECM update to fix my cold start misfire & CEL issue.

Hard to know if these are available updates of ones that have been applied.

l've had 1 ecm update that i know of (related to A/Con), but i have no idea if all these other updates are bundled in.

I pritned it all off for my VIN, ill take it into the dealer and ask

A TSB would be issued for any calibration update that is an actual "fix". Enhancements or improvements may not be shown in a TSB.
