Almost hit a child :(, rear ended

Today I was driving over my friends house to bring him to physical therapy. There were a few kids playing with there skateboards at the corner of the intersection. As I got closer one of the kids fell off his board, which skidded across the street. Another kid (11 years old), chased after it . Fortunately I was able to stop in time but was rear ended by an old man tailing me. Luckily enough there was a cop nearby who witnessed everything. We exchanged insurances and he was as well given a ticket for tailing. Im so glad I didn't hit the child, still a little spooked about the accident .

Heres a picture of the damages, he hit me pretty hard but it only did a small amount of damage to the bottom bumper, might decide on getting some quad exhausts now .

Glad to know you or the kid was not seriously injured or killed. Keep in mind Florida has a lot of Hit & Run due to illegal immigrants, many of whom live in Miami.

Say a prayer.

We need stickers that say I CAN STOP A LOT FASTER THEN YOU STAY BACK. today if you're not tailgating some a hole cuts in between you and the person in front of you.

Wow a cop was actually in the right place at the right time for once? You should have immediately bought a lottery ticket after that.

If you hear that polka music blaring from a vehicle get as far away from them as quickly as you can.

Which probably means they do not have a license and uninsured.

Doubtful the 'old man' was texting or Facebooking but that's why most of these occur.

Its possible, he didn't try to defend himself at all.

What's to defend? He was following too closely! End of story.

Glad no one was hurt. I got rearended a few weeks ago by an elderly woman who was eating a sandwich and driving! Then she tried to drive off and I politely explained to her that we were involved in an auto accident and the police were on the way.

The bumper cover and lower valance were scuffed up pretty good so the bumper was sanded and repainted and the valance was replaced, cost the insurance company about $800 and was done in a day and a half.

Glad you are okay and that no one was hurt especially the kid. Sad about your car, but those are easy to fix.
