Consider the following stats, mods, cost to get there:

2013 ZL1 stock: 580 HP = around 490 RWHP dyno
2013 GT500 stock: 662 HP = around 601 RWHP dyno
2013 ZL1 HPE700 799 HP = around 671 RWHP dyno

I am greatly annoyed that GM does not give the stock ZL1 around 650 HP
to make it more comparable to the Shelby GT500.

ZL1 owners are shelling out $20,000 - $30,000 extra dollars to Hennessey ADM, or Redline to boost their RWHP to 671, which is still only around
70 more RWHP than a bone stock Shelby GT500 Stang and it voids the
GM factory warranty !

I don't think it's worth spending all that extra money to get more RWHP
but apparently many ZL1 owners do ?

I like Hennessey vehicles, they do great work but it's expensive for the amount of time, modifications, money required to get 671 RWHP.

I'm just saying...
Are we missing 3 cams or just some more serious factory headwork to handle the boost?

amazing performance regardless of the nit-picking. You can really feel that car lurching forward when he presses that gas pedal. THe exhaust tune is very sweet sounding indeed!

but I'm just sayin'

The perma-grin effect pictured above by a good buddy giving me a ride in my Camaro!
Used 75 Camaro = $3500
Rolling restoration over 10 years = $5000
$5 of gas burned in 10 seconds = Priceless!

The Hennessey upgrades do not void the factory warranty on anything, but the motor and the motor is covered by Hennessey for 3 yrs 36,000 miles. GM fixed our paddle shifter and the air conditioning under warranty after Hennessey upgrade!

Instead of having a 5yr/100,000 drivetrain warranty w/ GM you now have a 3yr/36,000 DT warranty w/ Hennessey. Dealers will still warrant things outside the drivetrain, but nothing on the engine/transmission/rear end.

True but seeing a lot of owners doing engine mods at some of these other shops they now have zero Engine/PT warranty. With Hennessey they give you 3/36k Engine/PT warranty. Like the old saying you get what you pay for.

All I can say is WOW when racebum took me for a spin in the ZL1 sooooo smooth then blast off.

Well theres a simple solution for those who dont want to spend 20-30k and that is do the mods yourself and save all that cash. I know most people cant and or dont want to but Im one that takes pride in getting my hands dirty and doing things myself, makes me feel like I actually own and have something in the car, just sayin'.

With the weight differance I would think the Camaro needs closer to 800 hp to match the power to weight ratio of the gt500?

When I was a kid my dad owned a 58 Impalla , A 64 mustang and a 1970 Chevelle wagon that i learnd to drive on!

Im just a car guy my last car was a 94 z28 that made 642 rwhp. I would take a 800 hp Zl1 over a gt 500 but if i had to keep the car stock then thats another story. So im just wondering if 700 hp is enough to beat a gt500 in a drag race with the extra weight?
