v6 mods
for all those who put big mods and tunes onto their v6, were they worth the money of putting on. how much did they help? i test drove a 2010 ss with the l99 and it had a wierd vibration and sound at low speed. so my question is with all the money and mods some of u have put into thier v6 was they worth the money and time. As im thinking it may be more beneficial to mod my v6, with all the bolt ons i could do not including a turbo what would be my estimated crank and horsepower rating.

Quick question first, what are your goals? Do you want to drag race the car and run great times or do you just want to have a fun daily driver?

I agree, create a plan on what you are wanting to do. I have seen a few lately who spent good money on many performance items including s/c only to then decide to sell and buy a V8. To each their own, but I am sure the sale is at a loss. So just make sure you have a plan and preferably one that includes long term too.

For 12s your going to need some fi whether it a nos set up, turbo, or sc to me the mods were well worth it. It just fun to be different.

You need to put a plan together before buying to many bolt ons. I can say I had lts and a roto fab intake. But when I went fi none was use then i was stuck sell them which is not hard to do on this site but you lose money that you could have used for something else. But if all you want is bolt s go for it.

I enjoy working on my car an I wanted it to be a semi-daily driver that I could track once in awhile. This is why I went V6 and knew I would either SC or turbo. I agree you need to make a plan because some of the bolt ons will come off if you do FI. I can't see trading in this car for an SS. It has the HP and good MPGs and it is unique.

if you want consistent 12s you are gonna have to spend quite a bit. If it was me and I wanted consistent 12s with room for improvement I'd go buy a v8. I know some are gonna disagree with me but the facts are facts. There have only been a few v6s that have run 12s. Only one of those has done it consistently so far. That car is HDRS's car and he runs spray and is right now the fastest of all FI cars. v6owner ran a 12.98 I believe (sorry if that wasn't the number). And another car down in florida with the ipf supercharger ran another. Even then, the supercharged cars are having trouble running that consistently. So you're gonna be out the 6k of the supercharger kit plus tires and any suspension mods you might need to keep at 12s consistently. Plus any supporting mods you might want.
A v8 would be the easier cheaper choice because they run low 13s high 12s pretty consistently and if you mod that you have room for improvement. Ours are pretty much topped out at 12s with the mods we currently have available. |

Give Jesse at IPF a call (888-222-4291 ext 2) and get all you questions answered ! I'll be happy to answer as much as I can also. It really is a sweet setup and the tune is great.

Ok so you want your v6 to basically make more power correct?
I'd honestly look into the ipf supercharger and go from there. You'll be making a ton of power over stock. With just the ipf supercharger you should be running mid to low 13s. Throw some really sticky tires on there and some mods and you could be touching 12s. |
