How is it a "lesser" driving experience? Both are manual trans cars. I love how people defend a car no one wanted lol. The Z28 was a car with no market, it was dumb and sat on lots for months and even a year+. GM Made a "race car" with no a/c, radio etc and a fully loaded SS 1LE was faster around a track with 50 less hp and smaller harder tires.

.1 on a track after 10 laps is one full second. You are comparing a race car (Z28) vs a fully loaded street car(1LE) and the 1LE is still faster on a lesser tire. I fail to see what's fuzzy here?

Brakes "fading" are a product of the wrong pads and wrong fluid, the end.

If you're going to compare apples to oranges why don't you just use the stats off a ZL1LE? It's also a gen 6. I think the thread title was alluding to the collectability factor of the Z/28, not it's competitveness with a platform that came out after. Not that it matters but i'm pretty good friends with Randy for well over thirty years, have co driven with him and he own's a gen 6 1LE. He would be the first to tell you just how special the gen 5 Z is and i again i think that was the thrust of this thread, why these are still very affordable given the unique nature of the car. |

Why are we comparing the 1LE to the Z28?

SS 1LE front rotor: 14.6" SS 1LE rear rotor: 13.3" ZL1 front rotor: 15.35" ZL1 rear rotor: 14.4" 2nd: anyone who knows anything will tell you that the carbon ceramics like on a Z28 are better than iron for a few reasons at a few things.... period. they are expensive and I'm guessing GM didn't want to add the cost to the 6th gens due to their cost or other unknown reasons. the 5th gen Z28 is as special as the 1st gen Z28. no other Z28s are as special as the 1st or 5th gen ones. there were faster cars than the 1st gen Z28 at the time and after, but few pony/muscle cars are as iconic as that 1st gen Z28. I believe the 5th gen will be the same one day. I don't need to go into details why or how. lastly, whenever anyone says the 6gSS1le is faster or as fast as the Z28 on a track, I only ever see them post 1 track time? are there not more to compare to? I don't know, nor do I care to look. Just an observation I've made. someone is welcome to correct me on any of this cheers |

+1. I love all Camaros but this sounds like the argument of “why would someone want a 5th gen Z/28 when a 5th gen ZL1 was less expensive at the time and more horsepower!?” That’s not the point and anyone that has driven or owned a Z/28 would agree.

It goes back to the point of the thread title. Why does the Z28 not go up in price as much as the owners expected. It's mentioned above there are less expensive Camaro's that have more HP or competitive or faster on tracks that most people never take their street cars on. Low production numbers, as pointed out vs the GT350 isn't a good predictor of increasing value. Glad people enjoy their Camaro's for what they are good at and what they enjoy. Wonder how many will remember this age old topic and back to members e.g. Toymaker to finally had enough of keeping is Z28 pristine waiting for it to appreciate in value and sold it after waiting years in order to move on to put the money either in a better investment or something to enjoy. Fastfatboy You can't win a debate with people who don't want to hear it ![]() |

Pretty much. People are doting over a car that sat on lots 2-3 years because no one wanted it. But hey, to each their own.

I'm glad all types of flavors are offered to enthusiasts! ZL1 is great car as of Z28.
Kudos to GM engineers. |
