The C8 wins many times over in all performance areas and is the best bang for the buck period.

Closer to $75k MSRP once you add the $1,895 Magride and then another $1000-$1500 since you have to upgrade the horrible base wheels. That is assuming you can find a dealer to sell you one at MSRP. It is possible but typically a 12-18 month wait. If you want one sooner, there are plenty available at about $20k over MSRP.

No question the C8 is on a different level than a Mustang but if you talk to a lot folks that own the new C8 Stingray, it is just ok to drive. It has more of a GT setup in Stingray form, not nearly as visceral as a ZL1. You can barely hear the dual mode exhaust and the DCT only option limits the amount of driver engagement. The Z06 helps fix that by giving it more character with its flat plane crank and exotic sounding exhaust but now you are talking big $$$.

The reality is most buyers could care less about the lap times, if that were the case the Camaro would have outsold the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang, but it didn't.

Interesting perspective. I think with ICE going bye-bye it may change the dynamics a bit but I would not be surprised to see a fair amount of Dodge Challenger and Camaro owners make the switch to a Mustang. There is just something about your car being discontinued that doesn't sit well with some people. Especially if there is a current muscle car being produced with a strong following, forum community and lots of aftermarket support. It is just a psychological thing.

I would really wish GM would at least say something. Dodge has the whole "e-muscle" thing and now were know where Ford stands with the refreshed Mustang and you know more high performance variants are coming. GM should share some sort of vision for the enthusiasts, even if it is EV based. Do something other than Equinox, Blazer and Lyriq. I guess the Corvette is enough for them but that leaves out a large segment of enthusiasts in the $40-$60k price bracket.

So far GM's future seems loud and clear to me. EVs and CUV's for old women, and then still sell pickups.

Yeah, they have the C8 that they put out in small numbers (only about 10% of the Z06 orders will be fulfilled) and seem happy to let dealers sell base C8s for ~$100k to the Boomers buying their last fun cars.

The interior is hideous and the exterior is tolerable.
Albeit an improvement, I'd still go with a C8.

I don't think there is a single base C8 that has been sold for anything as low as $65k realistically.

When I looked at the new mustang, there was something I liked about it. Ohh, that's right, they took quite a few styling features of the camaro and added it to the mustang. Not a bad move for Ford since Chevy won't be using them.
I have a first gen and I have a 23'ZL1 with an ETA next month that I won't be getting rid of. Although I won't replace my Camaro with the mustang, I may add that to my toys once it is out and I can actually lay hands on it. I got Ford's new F-150 when that came out and had nothing but issues. So now I have a Ram TRX on order. Hopefully the Dark Horse won't have similar issues as the F-150 and Mach-E.

Goofy dash, still no sunroof option. Nope, I'd get a new 2022 SS over the Mustang, but the exterior does look better, but that's not hard to do.

Except for maybe the Dark Horse, I don't think the S650 looks all that good to be honest.

It's alright, but the Camaro looks meaner.

If the Camaro quits then its a real possibility. I am not a fan of the current generation vette. Its either the mustang or an older vette.

I imagine the question posted in this thread will be a much more impactful one in say 2026. When the others (Camaro and Challenger) are either gone or no longer recognizable as the pony cars of old. When the EV versions are out and FoMoCo has the last of it's highest performance ICE Mustangs on the ground along side its own EV versions selling side-by-side on the same lots.

It'll certainly be interesting. I would have never considered a Mustang previously.

And now they are saying ICE will be available in an 8th gen Mustang as long as customers want it. What a concept...
