Is a 2024 LT1 coupe an SS?
Obviously with the heritage of the Camaro I've been asked if my car is an SS. My window sticker does not designate it as an SS but I've heard people say all V8's are an SS trim, then 1SS and 2SS trims and the my Chevy app says it's and SS... may be insignificant, but I just want to be correct in my answer.

No, the LT1 model is not an SS.

That never stopped many Chevelle and Novas from becoming a SS. You are only a few emblems and maybe bigger back tires away.

Not the same, but share some features like hood FE3 suspension powertrain and front brakes. Easiest way to tell is front end.

No, it's a mix of LT and SS parts. The idea behind it was to create the cheapest possible V8 Camaro, so many cheap parts (gauge cluster, seats, A/C, rear brakes etc.) were lifted from the I4/V6 to complement the LT1 engine, and some powertrain capabilities such as several extra coolers were also eliminated.
When you are asked if you have an SS, I'd just say I have a V8 in a cheaper trim, because most of time this question comes up it is meant to determine whether or not you have a V8. Note also that when the LT1 trim came out, insurance companies listed it as a 1SS, which may still be the case, strange as it may seem. As far as I know, the initial cause was that GM gave the LT1 the same internal trim designation and VIN trim code digit as the 1SS...

The ‘correct’ answer is it’s a LT1

I'd stick with what the badge on the car is telling you, which is clearly LT1. Your car would have SS badges if it was an SS.
I'd also use what arpad says if people ask. "It's the cheaper V8 option, called the LT1" |

No, its an LT1.
You basically have a 4/6 cylinder car that now has an SS engine and transmission but do not have the appropriate brakes or cooling as well as front end or interior that comes with an SS. |

I thought the front brakes are the same 4 piston Brembos on the SS. What interior differences are there other than the gauge cluster? |

He's probably referencing the rears on the LT1 which are single pistion caliper vs the two piston on the SS. If you have a 22 or newer LT1 and it's a CA or WA delivered car it will also have the C8Z51 rotors and pads up front, and on the interior you could have ordered the tech package which was not available on the 1SS. If your not tracking the car the LT1 is a great choice for about 8-10k less.

The LT1 is a V-6 model with the V-8 installed in it.

I didn't even realize the tech package exists. I did some googling and had no clue that there are different screen sizes available on the 6th gen. I have a 2SS and drove an LT1 which definitely had the tech package, because other than the gauge cluster it seemed to have the same interior as the 1SS, but there probably are some other differences I'm not aware of. |
