Nothing scientific here…..the owners of the 16-18’s are all going to pick them as the best. You need to find people who own the 16-18’s and the 19-24’s to get any kind of fair comparison. Personally I wouldn’t buy any Camaro with an A8. If you are only looking for 6M’s then the decision is harder to make.

So this isn't about rationalizing our purchase, but rather acknowledging that the upgrade path is not really a "grade up" from what we already have. I could drive to a dealership that has Camaros in stock right now and buy another one, but the thought doesn't even occur to me. This is just as fair as the opinion of dual pre- and post-refresh Camaro owners you are calling for, and even more fair than those "OMG the A10 is night and day better", "I'll never buy a vehicle with the A8" etc. statements.

I’ve grown to like the refresh especially since owning one but the ‘16-‘24 has always been the favorite personally. Compared to a pre-refresh car it’s the same thing with a practical reskin on the infotainment with the ‘biggest’ improvement being LED headlights other than the A10 but even then it’s not worth buying a whole new car for as the A8 is no slouch. If the shudder was handled properly I’m sure they could’ve squeezed a few more years out of it too. I do see many people care more for the color than the style, which makes sense as a initial HBM fan

Not for the appearance or a 10speed ... but maybe to buy myself a few extra years without having to deal with state inspections :p

To be fair to Arpad and the rest of us 16-18 owners, the post did directly ask us for our opinion. To be fair to LeonardS, there IS obvioulsy going to be some bias. I think the question really needs to be broken down into an objective list of pros and cons. I'm not going to do that here, but some WILL see the later model as an upgrade, some will not.

Don’t have experience with the 16-18 but here’s my biased opinion…
I used to prefer the 16-18 SS over the 20-24 front but now find them equally attractive. The ZLE front still looks best to me. The new models have an arguably better transmission and new infotainment center. If you track your car, the newer car has supposedly better TC programming that reduces ice mode when. You're the only one that can decide if the newer car makes sense. |

Absolutely! While I love the Krypton green, I have had a 2020 SS convertible and it is absolutely better in a lot of ways in my humble opinion. Only reason i went with the 2017 is the color. but if the opportunity came, and I liked the color, I would do it in a heartbeat

No way. Even if something happened to my car I'd go look for a similar 16-18.

I specifically bought my 18 for the tail lights and look of the front end. Could've bought something newer, don't regret my decision.

Another vote for the 20 and up. Do not like the 19 front end, and prefer the center mounted heat extractor to the retro gen 1 SS hood louvers. The rear tails are polarizing, but i prefer the goggles as they remind me of the early 2nd gen Camaro. The differences are purely aesthetic, and mechanically the big + with 22-24 is the BCD brake upgrade which was the best 500.00 option they offered on these IMO.
