Recommend a CD/Cassette player

Anyone have a recommendation for a combination CD/Cassette player that would plug into the USB port? A few thousand tapes and about 800 CDs are calling my name.

never heard of one......but then again there is always google. I know you mentioned a you have a LOT. IF it were me, I would be investing in some good Flash Drives or a iPod and my time to convert them all to MP3's

Another suggestion.....if you have a regular CD or Cassette player (Walkman kind of thing) all you need is a Male to Male 3.5 to plug into the aux jack and the headphone jack then select aux input.....and you can play either that way.....however when the batteries go dead, well there ya are.

Converts cassettes to MP3 so you can play them through your car's USB.

Although it is a pain to do this it is your best option as your tapes will deteriorate over time and may even become brittle and break. Best bet is to do this now before it is too late. Even if you do the easy route and make each side of a tape a file.

I've never seen any. And unlike a computer USB port, the car port isn't likely to recognize random audio hardware.

Analog to digital format sounds horrible unless you have a studio to remaster the recording.

Have you ever listened closely to a Led Zep MP3? There's a reason Page is remastering all the Zep recordings.

My Nakamichi Dragons have reel-to-reel quality so my uber-rare (expensive) Japanese vinyl recordings get played only once or twice. ANALOG rules!

My "bootleg" live performance cassettes are the only recordings I'm worried about losing. My vinyl will last forever, I merely have to record the albums/45s/etc again.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. A buddy that owns a studio (he was mentored by an engineer who worked with Pink Floyd) has offered to remaster a couple hundred select recordings if I let him keep a copy. As I've said, some albums are very rare.

Since you shelled out the big bucks for the Nakamichi hardware, I'm curious why you don't have a laser turntable? You could play your records forever without causing any wear: http://www.elpj.com/
