Question comparison question

The 1Le and the Zl1 essentially have the same motor minus the Supercharger right? , I noticed the 0-60 times for both are relatively close why is this? I would think for all the extra Hp the supercharger is suppose to contribute the time difference would be much greater. what I am not understanding?.

1LE has a LS3, ZL1 has the LSA. Not the same motor, but I think they have the displacement.

1LE is few hundred pounds lighter and has 3.91 gears which would make for a good 0-60.

how does the ls3 stack up in power to the lsa?. if the ls3 had the supercharger on it, would if be a more powerful motor? thanks for the 3.91 gear ratio info, I can see must be a one of the bigger reasons it was so close to 0-60 time with the Zl1.

From google: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44276

basically the same short block, but supercharger/heads/pistons/rods/crank are all different.

If you took an LS3 and put in a little wilder cam, and a 1.9L supercharger you'd probably make very close to the same HP.

The "short block" includes the pistons, rods and crank...

It is accurate to say they share a very similar engine block and displacement but the LSA has a stronger crank and rods and "special" cast Pistons. LSA also has different heads (which are stronger with a thicker deck) and a very mild cam for use in the Caddy.

No, same cam.

The CTS-V LSA has a silver Supercharger Lid which is more restrictive and the intercooler plumbing enters in the rear.

The ZL1 LSA has the black Supercharger Lid which is less restrictive and the Intercooler plumbing enters in the front.

ZL1 has Electric Power Steering and the Dual Mode Exhaust.
The CTS-V has a Hydraulic Power Steering Pump and standard exhaust.

ZL1 also has a less restrictive Intake and higher flowing Intercooler Pump compared to the CTS-V.

These differences account for the change in HP from the Caddy at 556 to the ZL1 at 580.

OK, Let me chime in on this one...

I owned :

2010 2ss Rs
2014 1le 2SS
2014 ZL1 - CURRENTLY

Here is the real world breakdown on 0-60 time for all three of these vehicles:

The 2010 SS is faster 0-60 Than the 1LE. b/c of the following:
1) transmission- gear ratios are larger in 1st 2nd on the SS, the 1LE Tranny 3-4-5 is where is money is made. (and that is road race territiory ) Even though the 3.91 should help the tranny compensates and power is not there in gear 1 and 2. If the SS had 3.91 it would take the 1le 10 out of 10 times.

The 2014 1LE vs SS in qtr mile is a drivers race. with the edge going to the SS due to tranny gear ratio

The Zl1 is by no means even close to the 1LE / SS in terms of 0-60 1/4 times

There is so much mis-information out there re: the 1LE and what people think it is. It is not a Zl1 without a supercharger.

It is for lack of a better term a Z28 Lite, down 75 hp and handling comp. and more weight.
