An option is have only one switchblade fob changed to the hanging key. Just say you can not find the other switchblade. Therefore, your auto records will indicate no outstanding recalls which is good. I know here in Canada you can not import a car until it is documented no outstanding recalls.

My thought is they should have also issued a new fob (new smaller design) with the separate key. Just pulling the key out of the fob is a half-ass solution done on the cheap. The gap in the fob is large enough to stash your meds. At this time going to ignore the recall but keeping the recall letter with the rest of the car paperwork for future consideration.

So you can just do one key fob? And how does the side where the key looks?

KEY RECALL

Just had mine done. Wish I would have taken just one key and kept the other original.

I had my free oil change today. I declined the key recall and they typed it into the computer. That's all there was to it, no disclaimer to sign. In the future maybe I will have one of the keys done, maybe not !

Of course. Just tell them you lost or don't know where the second one is. It is not like they're going to come to the house and search your drawer's and cabinet's.

If we had a true issue with the ignition it would have came up a long time ago and would have been documented on here. It's honestly up to you if you want to snap the switchblade. Most dealerships will give you the option, I know mine did. If you're honestly worried about it the best thing to do is take the switchblade off your key-ring and drive with it only in the ignition.
This

They can take my fobs from "my cold dead hands" Not doing it

I declined the so called re-call. No issues.

Keyless go, comfort access. You would think this would at least be an option by year 2015.

Surprisingly, I just got a recall notice for my '09 Chrysler Town & Country which doesnt have a switchblade style key but does have a large fob type thing that is inserted into the ignition. Sheesh not another one.

I went in for an oil change and was told I HAD to have the key recall done. I not so politely told them that it's MY car and refused to do it. A week later, the same dealer sold me a switchblade fob with a key attached. Apparently, my dealer wants me to do the key recall but is also willing to sell me the death-key switchblade.

Gotta love how one hand does not talk to the other over there, LOL
