Titanium Exhaust

I've confirmed that Akrapovic is not going to be making a Ti exhaust for the Z/28 so I am looking to have one made for my Z/28, preferably here in the US.

Anyone know a shop that is capable? Ti is a specialized manufacture and welding so please no guesses about your buddy's backyard shop being able to hack something together. I want a professional-quality system. Header-back to replace the cats or 200 cell HJC cats, full system, turn-key install with all necessary hardware that retains the OE exhaust valving and keeps approx the stock sound levels so I don't blow sound at the tracks.

I know vendors read/post here- this is a great opportunity to get a product out there.

It's a massive weight savings for those of you who are not familiar with Ti systems. Can sound pretty cool as well

HELP!

Litespeed Racing is the only company that I have heard of that has considered doing a Ti cat-back for the camaro. He has a axle-back already done, but it is dual not quad. Last I heard, he didn't think the demand was there for a cat-back. Give him a call.

I talked to akrapovic at SEMA last year. They said "What's a camaro?" (not really)

Awesome, let me dig in to this lead, thanks Justin!

You might want to check with Corsa.

They made the system for our C5 Z06, IIRC. No mufflers, no cats. Uber lightweight. Note: It was over $1000 IIRC.

Ti? I'm not interested in any other material.

Three prospects in 30 minutes, not bad

Glad to see others "get it".

I guess I don't "get it". Could you en-lighten me?

Corvette C-5 Z06 had a titanium system, but I didn't see the "massive" weight savings or any real horsepower gain. When you factor in cost, there may be much less expensive roads to lighter weight and more horsepower.

That said, go for it! Would like to see if it makes sense.

Good luck, and best regards.

there is a user on here "Unobtainium" who works with titanium and might be a lead or at least know people. See the titanium harness bar he made http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=330579&page=3

or try B&B...great stuff but not sure about titanium

The C5 Z06 has titanium MUFFLERS. The center section is heavy wall stainless.

IIRC, we shaved 50lb, cats, center section, manifolds. The headers were KOOK's 1.75" Longtubes, then went right into the Corsa tubes.

If someone said Pretty Please, I might dig through the shop and find them. We went back to the factory exhaust minus cats and manifolds. The Ti Z06 mufflers don't make your ears bleed, and we only dropped 0.1 seconds with them off.

Thin wall titanium. It turns pretty colors and weighs nothing. I think from the headers back, a dual exhaust to the rear bumper is <10 lb.

Note. It is LOUD.

Oh, did I say it's loud? Yup.

It's LOUD. You will get ticketed on the street. Guaranteed.

Did any one see the manifolds looks like the old 1966 327/350 Hp, this car is asking for long tubs, there is where you will loss some weight and add power at the same time.

I reached out to Unobtanium, thanks for the lead! There is a group buy opportunity forming here for a vendor inclined to tackle the project.

I'm specifically asking for:

*OE fit/finish
*Header-back
*Retain OE exhaust valving
*OE decibel levels
*V-band flanges
*200 cell HJS race cats or equivalent
*O2 bungs

I would guess these systems would come back at $3500-$5000 lest anyone not realize the likely cost here.
