wheel size
I just sent a 2012 SS off for a tuner upgrade. The upgrade will lower the front of the car 1" and will lower the rear .8". I have the stock tires and 20" wheels that came on the car and was unimpressed with the tire/wheel option that the tuner offered. So I am going to get my own tires and wheels and mount them when I get the car back.
My question is what are my limits on size and width for my 20" tires/wheels? I have seen some posts on mod cars that have 9 or 10" on the front and 10 or 11" on the back. I would like to go with either a 9" front and 10 or 11" back. But I am not sure if I will need to mod the wheel wells to make this work. Can anyone tell me what the max size I can go with, front and back, without having to mod the wheel wells? |

The wheel wells will be fine, it just depends on what offsets you go with.

Ok so if I go with 9" front and 11" rear how do I figure what offset I need or will the wheel manufacturer be able to calculate that for me?

CCW has several styles of wheels that are 10" front and 11.5" rear and have no rubbing issues on cars lowered 1.5"+ and their offsets are perfect.....wheels/tires sit inside the wheel wells with no mods needed. Just need to tie back your E-brake cables as with any wider wheel set up. Mine is lowered 1"....

Quote:
20x9.0 = +20 to +35 20x11.0 = +35 to +40 The offsets will also vary depending on the design of the wheels. Which wheels are you interested in? |

I haven't made a final decision on the wheels yet but I am trying to narrow that down. So far the ones that I have seen that I like are Forgeline DE3S Wheels (without the orange bolts) and the TSW Nurburgring 20" Wheels. But I am still looking. I want a good, high quality wheel. Not going for something based on a low price.

I'm considering having my stock wheels widened to accomodate a bitter tire. From what I've read, the additional wheel width is added to the rear of the rim. How does this change the offset? Will I have problems? Is this a good idea?
