Alarm Help

Well, my car is 1 month old (850 miles) and I just received my 1st Alarm. Took it out this afternoon to make a quick run to the store. When I came out and started it back up I received a Check Power Steering - Drive Carefully on my display plus had the BRAKE and ABS lights lit solid. Drove it home and I could feel that the steering had tightened but other than that, no other running symptoms. Once home I made my appt with the Service Department (for Sunday - as they are already booked on Saturday. Just glad that the Service Dept is open 7 days per week). About 10 minutes later I went back out and started the car - no alarms. Took it out for a drive (approx. 10 minutes) - no alarms and steering was back to normal. Came home and let it sit for a bit and then re-started, still no alarms and again, car ran fine.

Still planning to take it in for a diagnostic check on Sunday but wanted to ask here if anyone else had experienced this?

Thanks!

Alarm Help

Don't bother with the dealer, this is caused by the range device. You need to read the range thread as this is the common issue with it. Nothing you can do about it, it's live with it when it happens or get rid of the range device.

I was one of the testers for the range device, tested 4 versions and they all did this.

Either way don't bother with the dealer as you'll be wasting your time. I'm 100% certain of this.

I did take the Range device out when I got home....and that would explain why I did not get the alarm back...So if the Range causes this - is just a reseat of the Range device required or do you need to keep it out for a set amount of time? (I still have it out)

Here is what you'll get on occasion, the phantom lights. Harmless but bothersome.

I just found the Range thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...283175&page=43

43 pages and counting....looks like if you shut the car off with the Range still plugged in and restart, the alarm will clear. I now have my Range plugged back in and if this happens again to me, I'll try the off/on test to vfy it clears.
