BMR motor mounts

Just got these and was wondering if anyone else was running the solid aluminum upgrade and if so, whats it like? I still need to grab a transmission mount from Prothane too.

Just ordered some as well, installed the rev shift poly mount and vibration was crazy for the first 300 miles or so but it seems to settle in about 1200 or so.

Nice. Hows it feel, more responsive? They were the only true solid mount I've been able to find and I am very excited to get them installed. I saw theres an MTI tranny mount for the manuals as well, but for the 6L80 guys it seems Prothane is the only option, at least from what I could find.

I don’t see a trans mount for a 5th Gen from Prothane.

Hard turns are a little bit more planted and shifts are dead on as well, it’s a good upgrade if u don’t mind mild vibes every now and then in certain rpm bands.

Wow that’s a nice piece but looks like it might cause a lot of vibration.

Using the Prothane engine mounts and rev shift poly insert...amazing difference in the "feel" of the car..much tighter all around...and have been on the car for 3+ years...

This is the first winter where the NVH is really pronounced until the car has been driven a few miles to warm up. Not that bad but I can't imagine what solid mounts would be like.

BTW - the Prothane mounts are extremely robust units and even with the poly mounts the engine twist makes the front right twist up slightly

good luck!

PEACE

So, what exactly is the purpose of upgrading these? Or maybe the better question is, is what point does one need to look at upgrading the motor and trans mounts?

How bad is the installation for motor mounts with the motor in place?

Less movement and slop in the drivetrain which in turn saves wasted power that would have been absorbed through all the twisting and flexing.

Excellent. I don't do turns really, just the straight line, but any less deflection will be good. I've seen the motor jump on dyno pulls and I would rather it not do that.

Thats what I have read, that the solids increase NVH, and if you're on the fence or if thats a concern for you, its not recommended. I am one of those guys that doesn't care about NVH at all, thankfully.

Just like we do solid cradle bushings and suspension upgrades, to eliminate deflection in the driveline. On when to upgrade them, either when you have a worn out OEM motor mount, or really just anytime you want to tighten things up. All the OEM stuff is geared toward NVH reduction and comfort. I don't care about either one of those things, as long as my car is more efficient at putting power to the ground.

I have read about people lifting the motor at the oil pan with a jack and a block of wood, but also bending the pickup tube in the process, or rupturing the pan. This is not what everyone would recommend doing, for obvious reasons, so I may be taking it to GPI for another round of mods, whenever that comes up.
