Is this normal?

Hey,
My 2010 L99 does something strange. When I unlock it, all the lights come on and even the reverse light, along with the reverse camera on and reverse noise!
At this point, the car is in park. I did a little research and found the article below from two years ago saying this is normal!

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2018/02...the-car-video/

I can understand if the reverse lights are supposed to come on then this would trigger the reverse camera and the reverse noise.

For the record my lights are turned off when I lock the car, not in auto mode.

Any help would be appreciated

haha

I am English so the terminology may be different!
Reverse noise = the beep beep noise of the car when it reverses. Oh shit I just realised this a Korean thing. It's probably aftermarket. It beeps when I reverse and the beeps get faster as I get closer to anything behind me.
I hope that made sense!

Anyway the main question is..... Should the reverse lights light up when I unlock the car in any situation?!!!

That's called the proximity alert. As you get closer and closer to an obstacle it beeps faster and faster. It may be an overseas thing. I've never heard of a camaro doing this when unlocked.

But the reverse lights is normal on a lot of cars. Not sure about camaro because I disabled my lights on lock and unlock. I'm strictly a horny guy lol.

Thank you buddy.
If the reverse light is normal on a lot of cars then I am cool with that!
The reverse light turning on must trigger the proximity sensor.
Thanks for your answer!
I won't be trying to fix that then!!!!

I have noticed people freak out with the reverse light coming on. If I am in a parking lot walking towards my car after unlocking it remotely, other drivers have slammed on their brakes thinking I was going to back into them, or they will sit and wait for my parking spot as they think I'm pulling out. They rarely realize that there is nobody actually in the car.

Between that and the remote start, this car can be a lot of fun for scaring the crap out of people.

BTW, the "reverse noise" most likely was not the parking sensors alert, but the reverse alarm sound by simple beepers in bulbs. Obviously, they beep on unlock as in any other time when bulb is energized

The same bulbs with beepers are usually mandatory in warehouse vehicles, etc.
