Cold Air Induction
Was wondering if it would be worth it to change out my K&N cold air for another brand? When car was cammed and dyno'd they said the K&N was smaller than other brands and could be holding me back. I still put down 469 on mustang dyno. So..... I have 4.10 motive gears in my garage to be installed with new McLeod clutch may as well order new cold air if its worth it. Any thoughts...

Doubt it. 469 is a stout number.

I'd rather spend the $$$ on a set of solid cradle bushings.

How bad do those change the ride quality? Does it hit bumps harder? I live in Cleveland and the roads are bad.

Your shocks are still there doing what they are supposed to do. The cradle bushings eliminate the weak rubber link between the chassis and the cradle. Zero deflection means no wasted power through that link. Its a great mod for our cars

I have full bushing set and both trans and motor mounts and no real nvh difference. The car does feel much stiffer. Only one bridge have I ever had an issue with and car feels like it’s bouncing up and down like bounce house lol
Edit...I may have exaggerated a bit. It’s noticeable more than it was stock but not so much that I drive an alternate route that’s just as fast. Last edited by Roader; 06-09-2019 at 03:38 PM. |

Jannetty did a test on all brands years ago. In his best possible testing situation, K/N gets 10 hp. CAI gets 14. Same with halltech and the improved Rotofab. You and me off the street doing a baseline, changing brands and doing more runs , I doubt we can get a accurate test to see any difference. And again only a 4 hp difference at best

Take your washer bottle out and add this. I doubt changing the air intake will really add anything.
https://jannettyracing.com/products/...10-2015-camaro Remember there are more bolt ons for these cars, UD pulley, ported TB, ect.

Those are great dyno numbers.
Is your washer bottle removed? I removed mine altogether after realizing that I never use the windshield sprayer, ever. Best thing I’ve done....I couldn’t believe the huge size of the washer reservoir and how much free airspace it cleared out directly under my CAI filter (no choke point now). Plus it weights about 12 pounds when filled with water so that weight is gone. Then I used a Dremel to slightly cut and bend the plastic back behind the lower grill so it directs fresh airflow to the now-empty void space where the reservoir used to be. In my opinion the scoop would have directed too much forceful air, bugs, dirt and water (especially at interstate speeds) and I didn’t want my filter getting beat on that much. The slip angle of the cut plastic fits the bill perfectly. Free. |

Towards the bottom of the pic you can see where I Dremel cut a relief slit in the horizontal portion of the plastic. That way the plastic is still retained but can be pulled back as much (or as little) as you want. I then used a small black zip tie to hold the plastic back using an existing hole nearby on the frame underneath. You’ll see the hole. So now the air slides right in and into the large void where the washer reservoir used to be and naturally up to my filter.
In this picture I’m shining my drop light directly at it so you can see. Day to day, it’s so low and tucked-in that I can’t even notice the job and I’m the one that did it....it won’t affect the appearance of your front end. I did this at the same time as I removed the washer reservoir so I had the wheel off and the fender liner pulled back....which makes it much easier. ** I just noticed that your car is a 2010. My 2014 might be much different than yours in the lower grill area. Last edited by Black 6.2L SS; 06-10-2019 at 11:24 PM. |

JRE race scoop and a UD pulley are good mods, it all adds up.
