Gap under AC vent and dash removal

Sooo my wife managed to set one of her wedding bands near the shifter and it slid under the AC vent pod...

Anyone know how to remove the AC vents or possibly remove the whole center shifter dash? Tried search dash removal but couldnt come up with anything relative. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try a coat hanger to hook it I don't think it falls through. I lost some stuff there and it seems to stop out of sight.

Tried the coat hanger... didnt come up with anything. i think if its small enough or gets pushed back far enough it dropf through to the floorboard or the cetner console under the radio area.

ill have to figure out how to piece apart the center dash near the vents or the shifter.

I noticed that the other day when a quarter was half way into the abyss. Stupid design.
Thinking about a thin bead of black silicone.

I've thought about this too. Think I'll get some black foam tape and insert it into the gap.

So...I hope this helps. The other day I removed the bezel around the shifter to clean the cracks and it was fairly simple to pop on/off. Just start at the part of the bezel nearest the parking brake switch. If you take a plastic trim tool and stick it down about an inch you can pry up and gently remove the bezel. As far as the rest is concerned, there are a few screws that hold parts in their places and there may be a few that just snap into place. Overall, once the bezel is removed it seems to make everything else easier to access. Good luck!

That area is a confirmed black hole, sorry your wedding band has been lost to the dark matter.

You need to pull out the entire center console. I know some people here have done it and it's not too complicated. I believe the person I'm thinking of was installing a new shift knob. This was before we knew of easier ways to do that.

If anyone wants to be preventative, You can buy felt pads for the bottom of thiings so they don't mark up your furniture, walmart and hardware stores will have them. Get a a few, cut them to the correct size and stuff them in the slot. Example
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001W...wML&ref=plSrch
Example
Another thing is to get thin weather stripping like go under doors, that would fit too if you get the thin sizes. If you can't find black get a Sharpie, although this would probably be would of sight
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000052033..._tsxSAb6BZXCXH

Both of these are adhesive and may actually prevent rattles if plastic is touching out of sight. I have been thinking of taking part of the dash apart because I test drove 6 used ones before I bought my new one and they ALL rattled to various degrees in the dash
