Thats a 60 mph crash and car is totaled. That even makes it better the firewall was not breached. Were the roads wet? I guess it doesnt matter what speed she was going the BIG thing she is OK..give her our best.

Oh wow...glad she's ok! ....But I must agree...that is some nasty damage to be only doing 35 mph.....she had to be going faster than that.

Oh come on, you know your thinking the samething!!!

If she was making a "turn from a stop" and lost control but was able to get to 30-35 she had to have been putting her foot in it....Regardless I'm glad she is okay, but hope this is a lesson learned!

Just noticed that the tire came off the bead. Looks to me like she was going around a left turn way to fast and sharp and the tire popped of the bead and she slid into the telephone pole. I'm going to say she was going faster than 65mph.

My thoughts exactly. That is a big NO-NO in a RWD car; a lesson I learned when I accidentally fishtailed while taking a turn too quickly. I was at least able to correct that without any repercussions (besides being shaken up a little).

I too am glad she is Ok.
I am going to take a different opinion on the speed. i am buying into the original 30 mph. Looks like the pole hit the right front suspension. The front bumper beam and the frame rails look to be in about the original position.

From a stop, she turned onto the perpendicular road (don't know left/right), one of the wheels dropped off the edge of the road (uphill intersection + poor visibility over the hood), she overcompensated opposite direction, lost control in gravel on the side of the road, bam, hit mailbox, overcompensated again, bam, hit phone pole. Stated speed was 30-35, but do not know what OnStar recorded. I'll ask. May have hit the gas not the brake in a panic.
