1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom
I have a chance to buy one. It's a friends. It was bought in Nashville and shipped to Mass. His father bought 2, one for him and my friend because they wanted to learn. They never did. I saw this guitar once sometime around 1982/83. It probably hasn't been played or out of the case since around then. I do know it has a couple of buckle marks on the back but other than that I assume it's new condition. It is wine color with gold hardware. It comes with a hard shell case with red plush interior. From the serial 80880507 I know this
Your guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA March 29th, 1980 Production Number: 7 Including the case he said it cost $750. In chatting I told him the most I would be willing to pay would be $2,000, since I already have 5 guitars that I haven't played much and am not really in the market for another. From the little research I am doing I am learning that in the early 80's Gibson's GC wasn't the best. Any thoughts on this?

If you could get it for $1000, it would be a great investment regardless if you want it or not. But at $2000, I would pass.

Two grand is a good price if it's in otherwise great condition. You can never have too many guitars (take it from me, at 150+). I'm looking for a 1979 right now myself. Good luck with the decision.
