When do you hope for delivery?
For those that have ordered:
Level the playing field: forget about the ecomony and delays. Knowing what we know today and knowing where you are on the list of allocated Camaros when do you reasonably hope to take delivery? I ask because I'm looking to the members for insight so I can realistically guage my own hopeful delivery timeframe for my 2SS/RS (I'm third on an allocation of 3). Thanks |

Well since I have to turn in my leased Honda Accord V6 on April 15th I hope it is before then. If I have to turn it in I will and ride a bike to work.
But hoping that GM can make 500 cars a day and I get mine in late March. |

I'm hoping for April or May. But the end of Feb would be awesome, since thats when my B-day is.

I see no reason why I don't get mine in early March and thats what I expect. I am 1st on the list and ordered mine on the morning of the 13th. If GM's figures about how many cars per day they can produce is real they have 13days between when the line rolls (Feb 16th) and March 1st, I can't imagine it could take that long for my car to make it down the line.
Watch now that I said that I'll probably get the damn thing in August.

I'm hoping to have mine by the end of March, because my current lease is up Mar 27th and I don't want to have to deal with a loaner. I also ordered mine on 10/13, 2nd at a dealer of 3, so I'm hoping constraints go in my favor.

I am wondering how the figure out which cars go where. Do they look at what was ordered first? Do certain dealers get a preference? Does anyone know how this is normally done?

Its almost impossible to figure out what order they will be produced. It all depends on what they build first and the availability of options. And I doubt all people will recieve thier cars in the order that they placed their order at the dealer.

You have to think that cars coming off the assembly line will be all grouped together. For instance the roofs are different - the ones with and w/o sunroofs - I had worked in the SAAB factory for two years in Sweden and the first runs were always cars w/o sunroofs. Then the factory would switch the dies and cut the panels with roofs (This happened until they ramped up and had a stamping machine to bang out just the roof and one for the non-roof models).
Now this might not be the case for the Camaro; nevertheless, it is very likely that a non-sunroof V6 car might come off the line first. Also, color runs are all painted at once - So we might see the #1 colors (yellow?) come off the line first as well. This is all speculative, but think how the factory builds cars. Has to be the most cost effective way. They have to see what is the #1 combo for those 3000+ pre-orders and take care of those customers first. Just my 2 cents... As long as I get my IOM 2SS by Spring!
