Trans temp reading from gauge cluster?

Is there a way to check trans temp from gauge cluster? Or need to access OBDII?

Thanks.

I don't have a Z, but you might want to check it at the OBD port. My Aeroforce gauge shows what the temps are actually as it sweeps back and forth, where the cluster just kinda shows what it might be. I have noted a difference anywhere from 50-75 from what the "stock" gauge showed as to what the Aeroforce showed. I monitor mine all the time because of the big converter I'm running.

Autometer makes that Dashlink where you can add the different displays. I don't have it so I have no idea how accurate it would be. I'd imagine it's what the computer comes up with as a calculation like the oil temp

Yes sir, you are very welcome. And on another note on the temp difference I saw, it could be either way, up or down that much according to what the "cluster gauge" was showing. So it could be a higher temp, or a lower one, and I wanted to see a more "specific" reading.

Not sure why it didn't come with more relevant gauges similar to Mustang. For such a hardcore race car....

Yeah, you would have figured that since it is a race inspired car that they would have done a better job of providing a better and more accurate means to monitor ALL the engine and trans vitals! But, alas, they dropped the ball. But none the less, it is an awesome Camaro model!!
