112 lsa vs 114 lsa

I'm looking to do a TSP 235/239 cam but want to know what the pros and cons are of going with 112 lsa vs going with 114 lsa. It is my daily car so drivability needs to be taken into consideration but I also want power, chop, etc. Any advice is worthwhile!

The 112 will idle worse but make more midrange torque.

http://www.compcams.com/Pages/413/ca...ion-angle.aspx of course it will have chop and it will be with a wider power band slightly and not affected too much for top HP numbers our stock cam comes with mega LSA ......its good for not making any PTV or other issues also etc benefits from the wider LSA and more power under the curve so to speak with more wider power band a little, then some places also add timing in a grind also, like mine now is 114+4 but drives just like the 112 I used to have the 235/239 good cam from TSP. Maybe its better on the brakes with the wider lsa also? theres things to be said for both ...

What does idle worse mean? Idle rougher? Buck more at low rpm? I can't seem to find anyone running 235/239 with anything but 111 or 112

Idle will be more choppy and it will buck more. Running the 114 will improve the idle but will kill more torque that is already low with the big cam that is why no one does it. Its a high rpm cam, that simple.

I agree, I would go with a smaller cam for a daily driven car.

Driveability will be better with 114
Power will be better with 112

Is a 114 still going to chop at idle or will it not be noticeable?

At 235/239 that's 13 degrees of overlap on a 112, 9 on a 114, it's gonna chop hard with either cam and neither will have particularly great driveability to be honest. Might as well go with the 112 imo

Thank you for your input! I was told the 114 will tune easier and have less annoyances such as bucking

Comparatively less than on a 112, yes. But it will still be a little rowdy at low rpms
