According to an article today, the original design for the 3rd gen Equinox received such a horrible response from consumer clinics that it was scrapped in favor of the final 3rd gen design, all while staying on the original timeline.

The design they landed on, while looking alright, just seems a little bland to me. Hopefully my mind will change when I see one in person, but the 2nd gen model just had more distinct look to it...my opinion. Otherwise I really like what the 3rd gen has to offer, and that interior is miles better.
