Ship it. The paint on these cars is complete trash. Don't risk the rock chips/flakes.

I would have it shipped, only because I wouldn't wanna park it overnight in a hotel somewhere. If you can do a straight shot, then drive it.

All ZLE’s are shipped on an open transport trailer. They can’t be shipped by rail.

I did have that exact concern overnight in Detroit, pulled out at 5am the next morning. I had two flights the day before and didn't actually have car in hand until 3pm that day. I could have gotten out of Detroit a few hours and felt a little better about it

Definitely ship it or you will find out the hard way about the tires picking up stones and throwing them back at the bulges. Just go to the vehicle at the dealer and drive it around the lot. You will hear what I mean. The tires are really sticky.

When I found my ZL1 all the way on the East Coast while I’m on the West Coast, I didn’t even consider shipping it - I saw it as a fun travel/adventure opportunity.

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=561709

And I also discovered how great the ZL1 was on that trip. Coming over the Sierra Nevadas, there’s this one downhill section that’s steep, curvy, and has a bunch of those runaway truck turnout sand traps. Even in my 2008 BMW M3 and 2012 AMG C63, you felt the suspension loading up and struggling a bit. In the ZL1 - flat as a pancake even in Tour Mode. That magnaride setup is astonishing!

So I’d take the trip and consider it your “Honeymoon”!

Ship it. No fun driving a ZLE slow for that long. I drove Dallas to Kansas City. What a bummer.

Road trips are fun but you're not saving $600 driving yourself including gas and lodging. Then there is:

The stone protection is not great for the radiator and coolers aside from the paint chips. All it takes is one bad section of highway or some dump truck you get stuck behind.

ZLE is geared higher in 6th than a regular ZL1. You'll be at around 2.5K-3k rpm on the highway. The suspension is stiff but not bad on the highway. Be careful on railroad crossings. The ZLE has a different suspension vs the standard ZL1: lower/stiffer springs/stiffer fixed rate dampers.

The standard GY3R tires don't last long on the street (guessing 10k-20k - not sure on this I get 3-4 track days out of them). They aren't good in the rain.

If you ship it there are inserts for the front springs that will keep the splitter at a raised angle vs standard ride height so that it can be driven onto a trailer.

Also, if you ship it, have the selling dealer keep the orange front spring spacers installed. Don't remove them until AFTER you get it off the transport at your home. You can remove them yourself with a jack or take to your local dealer for same.

it is coming from Ohio and coming to Florida-will be using uship as reliable states it may take up to 4 weeks before pickup and it may go to there warehouse for another amount of days. Already bought stone guards and jack pads from ZL1 addons as they will go on before it gets driven.

Sounds like you've buying the car I was looking for. If it's the manual one.

There are no spring spacers in ZLE’s.
