Anyone go from an LS1 an LS3?

Just a fun, curious question. I currently own a 2002 Z28 (which I absolutely love), and I'm thinking about getting a 2012 SS (I'm kinda ehhh about the supercharger on the Z28). My question is: who all went from an LS1 to an LS3 and how big was the power difference stock for stock (to you, not literally of course)? Do you miss your LS1?

There is a big torque difference and more refined feel with the newer Camaro.

Do I like it? Not really

My previous 99TA had more character and more of a sporty feel. Nevermind it went 2 seconds faster down the 1/4

ls1 feels faster

but i like the 2010

so many less rattles/leaks/creaks and it drives so much more smoother..... I can't wait until after I get more mods on it......

LS1 does feel faster but ET's have told a different story. The 5th gen felt slow to me but that's not the case.

Probably because of the weight difference. It's not that the 5th gens are slow, they just feel sluggish.

Actually I had 2 LS-1's; a '99 Firebird Formula and an '04 C-5 Vette. The Vette was quick and smooth but the LS-3 is much more agressive does pull a little better that either one. It even sound better with sock exhaust ( soon to be replaced by a complete Kooks system; 1 and 7/8th" LT's and 3" all the way back! ) And no, I don't really miss the LS-1's.

I daily drove my LS1 with a aggressive heads and cam package. I still like the car, but I am welcoming the LS3 for smoothness and driveability.

you consider a 228 cam "aggressive"?

I had 3 4th gens. 2 LT1s and 1 LS1. I needed to move on.

The 5th gen is faster, handles better, is nicer to drive, has all the modern features, is as tight as a drum, and there is plenty of room to work on the engine.

I enjoyed those 4th gens but I do not miss them now that I am driving the Camaro.

I also do not miss my 335i or the Mustang 5.0 I did not not buy.

If you can afford the 5th gen, you will not regret buying one.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I'm not selling my 4th gen to get my 5th, but I'm giving it back to my grandfather (he gave it to me for my 16th birthday). So it'll still be in my driveway, just not mine anymore. I'm excited about the independent rear suspension versus that stupid live rear axle, but I'm most excited about the LS3.

The single best thing about the 5th gen is any engine mods take half the time or less as an LS1 due to the truck sized engine bay.
