Wow, not only did this guy entirely screw you on this deal, he's also a pompous @$$ about all of it. I'm glad you filed all of those reports on them.
If you never actually signed a release of any sort other than to have them give you an estimate, they have absolutely NO arguement in court. Gieco should at least step in if they are a "Certified"/ "Recommended" (or whatever they call their network) shop.

Best of luck to handling it and keep us posted.

WOW, Just goes to show some shops just want to make a buck. There is no reason they couldnt have removed your hood and painted it off the car. Takes 15 minutes tops and that includes marking holes to keep alignment. I would tell then to give you some money back or your going to make it your lifes mission to trash there name.

+1 Its their Job to stand up for you as a customer. Most shops and or companies in general that deal with insurance companies always want you to sign a work agreement so they can pull crap like this. If a shop or any insurance related job ( roof.. flood.. etc..) is real quick to get you to sign a release or work agreement then they can not be trusted.

This sucks and I wish you luck and hope it works out! keep us posted...

I'm not understanding why you left your car at all for an estimate? When I've had to do damage repair, I took the car to the shop with an appointment or not and waited for it. Had I not heard back from these guys the same day, I would have been collecting my car immediately. I know that doesn't help past tense. GEICO is a great insurance company and I'm sure they will be make it right somehow. Good luck.

I got some horrible service and terrible paint work from a local company in my area. One of the painters even rubbed what I believe is shoe polish (or something similar) on my car to cover up a mistake. I didn't find the mistake until I washed my car and discovered the shoe polish or some black crap they used to cover up their mistake.

Even worse they told me on multiple occasions I could come pick up my car because it was ready. So I got someone to give me a ride to pick up my car, but each time I was told my car wasn't ready??????

In addition, I now have a vibration under hard acceleration that I never had before. The manager even told me "wow your car is fast, that thing's a monster." How the hxll does he know my car is "fast" when it was in his shop being painted? He even told me "I know how to turn off the traction control" bragging about hot rodding my car (what!!!)

Just one thing after another. I had to get my car re-painted to correct the terrible paint job.

Luckily I got a phone call from their corporate office and got a chance to tell them all about it. But I didn't get any kind of refund for having to get my car re-painted.

Youre supposed to take the car in for an estimate and wait for the paperwork.
Next, decide whether to leave it. Anytime Ive had an estimate you get it on the spot. Next time you better take an adult with you.

Having to leave your car to get an estimate happens all them time at body shops, car repair shops, etc. But they make sure to contacted you before starting any work.

It happens all the time at the dealership.
