I get around 20 average on mine, but I'm pretty easy on the engine, only ever owned V8s and when I was younger Dad told me not too rev it too hard so I grew up with that, when I had my truck I would keep it under 2.5k rpm, but with Camaro my daily drive is under 1.5k for pretty much all of it except on ramps where I might hit 2k, if it wasn't for all the hills and traffic out here I could easily see the car doing mid 20s, with how big our tanks are huge range on the car, car absolutely loves all the road trips.

Replace the air cleaner. Don't worry about what Jippy Lube did or didn't do. Maybe go back to them and point out that there was no way that they changed it. Stick with the factory air cleaner system. Your mechanic will be glad you did!

I don't know anything about that specific intake but I would say if you got an "eBay special" one, just replace the filter with a namebrand one, there is controversy with performance filters letting through dust and that is a much worse risk with a no name filter. If it's a reusable filter also make sure to keep up with the maintenance, manufacturers recommend intervals for cleaning and re oiling, but that's also a whole separate debate.

Gotta ask, if you am the mechanic, why did you even trust these peiple to do this???

I paid the oil change dude $21 bucks for a fresh one 45 days ago It looks like he never changed it at all. They did the oil filter and oil but not it...The bottom of the air box has traces of dirt and the filter was plugged. Air hosed the box and put a new one. So much for J.L never again.

Before you install that new intake assembly maybe head over to Autozone and grab an OEM style filter. Run that for a few weeks and see if your mileage improves. Unfortunately other than the "cool looks" factor the aftermarket CAIs don't really add much to our LFX engines. If you change the factory filter every 15-20,000 miles or so you should'nt have any problems. There's really not much you can do to squeeze out more HP on a budget. GM kinda did all of that for us by getting 323 hp out of only 217 cu in. With the cars mileage and age you'll want to do the coolant, trans, diff and brake fluid flush. That'll keep you busy for a while. For mods I would recommend a catch can to keep the intake clean. Maybe some wheel, tire, brake and suspension upgrades as the budget allows.

Oh boy, I can see that. I hope you can find a good shop around that you can trust to do what you need. Ask around with some of the car guys you see, especially if you have a Camaro club in your area. Another note if you haven't done it already, check and change your cabin air filter too. Chances if your engine filter was THAT bad, the cabin one needs attention as well..
