Getting screwed during financing

So I went to the dealership today to get most of the paperwork out of the way. My car won't arrive until next week but I'm not picking it up til the beginning of January because I'll be out of town. (Had no idea the car was even made, but thats a different story)

After getting the car stuff out of the way, I was pushed to the accessories guy. He tried to sell me a bunch of stuff that I wasn't interested in. The one thing that I took was the car care package. It costs $795. Basically it seems like a 5yr warranty for the paint job and interior.

Afterwards, the financing guy pushed GAP, an extended warranty and an oil change package.

Here are my two concerns:

1) Is the car care package worth it? I want to pay out of pocket but the finance guy kept putting it in my package. Basically bumping up my total price $795 and bumping up my down payment $795. Is is possible to get this without having it financed?

2) I took the 6yr, 100k warranty. After thinking about it more, should I just pass on this? It comes with a 3 year warranty. After thats up will they offer me a chance to extend the warranty? Seems like I am just financing an additional 3yr warranty 3 yrs earlier than I need to.

I signed all of the paperwork, but didn't hand over any money. Am I screwed or can I make these changes come January? Thanks in advance.

Me personally, I declined all the packages my dealer offered the oil change package, but was for non-synthetic oil only, Car care package, I cant see me getting that since I do all my detail my self. Extended warranty, ha Ill have my factory 5/100k thrown out the window this month after a tune and cai.

Again just my personal opinion.

I did not finance through the dealer and turned down all the stuff they were selling. What rate are you getting from the dealer? I gave my dealer two checks, one from the credit union for the total amount of the car and a personal check for tax, title and registration.

If you haven't taken delivery of the car, YES! it can be changed. Car Care or oil change prgrams are available for synthetic only cars like our Camaros. Extended Warranties are available after the manufactuers coverage lapses but ARE more expensive.
I have been in the car business over 18 yrs and these items are ALL options, no one is holding a gun to your head to purchase and everyones case is different.
I put an average of 20,000 miles a year on my car, so I opt for the 5/100,000 extension.
Even working for the dealership. Gap is a no brainer if your financing w/o a down payment that gets you below 80% value.

How much more expensive? I bought the 6yr 100k for $3000. So basically I'm paying $3000 for 3 years of extended coverage. Assuming that I don't go over the mileage based warranty that comes with the car. After that lapses, will a 3yr extension cost more than $3250? (original price with $250 of finance charges)

I got the 5yr 100k ext b2b warranty for only $1600. When we were talking about it the financial guy told me i could buy it later on b4 the original warranty expires for the same exact price.

Wow! This is disturbing. I know about interest ratings varying from person to person, but I thought the warranties were universal.

Warranties are completely negotiable. If you are going to mod your car then the additional warranty may not be a good buy. Anything to do with paint protection etc. is a waste. Gap is excellent if you finance with little down. Oil plan, only if you don't want to do it yourself, and the dealer is very convienent. You can change your mind on any of this stuff prior to taking delivery. Good luck....

Seriously I would not buy any of that... sounds like they've been giving you some real good sales pitches.

Car Care package...

You already have one of the best 5yr/100k drivetrain warranties out there.

Just buy the car...

the car care package is a waste. Don't buy it. As far as the extended warranty, if you plan on doing mods to your car, then the warranty is gonzo anyway.

What exactly does the extended warranty cover? Some won't cover everything.

We bought the 6yr 100k. And I must say it was nice not to pay for the $81.00 oil change. They say they will cover the seats, paint job and oil changes etc. So, we thought it was a good deal. I feel better about having it plus the car being the first yr. out.

The car has 5 years and 100,000 drive train warranty, and 7 years on items related to emissions.

So you are paying in advance on a warranty that does not go into place for a minimum of 36 months or 60.000 miles. You can buy GMPP right up to 35,999 if you think YOUR car needs it. ( at less than this guy is charging you today)

Will you own this car in 5 years? Will you trade it for the Vert or the Z28 when they arrive. ?

Do they follow the DIC for the oil changes? If so they will give you one oil change a year( see owners manual) if you are a low miles driver. Maybe 2 ? ? So you are tied to them for 5 years for the 10 " free " oil changes. ???

If you end up putting lots of miles on you can buy what you ACTUALLY need at that time rather than a guess now.

You don't need to take it....besides, we're offering GM extended warranties at GM employee pricing to all forum members - even if you didn't buy the car here.
