The upper induction cleaning is good for loosening deposits, but it is something to do after installing a good catchcan or the deposits will return in short order. The issue with to many uses is everytime you break loose the hard coked buildup some of the smaller pareticles are forced between the pistion and cylinder wall. Since they are so abrasive, this causes scouring to the piston skirts and cylinder wall so over use will cause permanent damage.

Just put a can on from day one (a good can, not one that lets as much oil through as it catches) and you never will have the valve gunking.

Looking at the BG website it appears #271 & 272 are the numbers need for the lfx engine but don't see any place to buy it. Also, no mention if its a gas tank additve. Anyone have an idea?

BG sells through a network of auto repair shops. Check their site.

My dealer is part of the BG network so it was easy.

Does Chevy perform the service?

Is this procedure something a Chevrolet service tech should know about? I just called JJ Chevrolet in CA and the tech never heard of an upper induction cleaning. I'm waiting for a callback from the service manager now....

The 44k cleans the fuel system and the BG tool sprays the other cans through the throttle body so it cleans your throttle blade, intake and valves. The v6 engines do pull a lot of oil through the intake. EVERY Acadia, traverse, etc. with the 3.6L that comes in the shop has a really oily and dirty throttle body. Worth the money!

All I know is I have an Elite catch can on my 2015 Lfx . I empty every 1,000 miles. Every time I empty about 3 oz of oil put of it. Does it make a difference I have truthfully
have no idea. Yet I put it on around 4,000 miles and now have around 35,000 on the car. So like I said 3oz every 1,000 . I change my oil every 6,000 miles. So just think of how much oil would be placed back into car if the oil catch can was not installed.
Far as voiding your warranty tell the place you bought your car. To go kiss the f off because it doesnt void your warranty period. My dealer tried it with me and lost that battle very very quickly.

Dealerships aren't like they were in the 60s-80s. The people have no idea about anything about the cars typically, they're just salesmen to make money. If you aren't tuned, your warranty won't be voided.
